Happy Fourth Of July

FYI - you are welcome on our shores if you come here legally.  It should be noted that you will have a much more difficult time if you sneak across the border.   It is certainly sad that your country sucks so bad that you feel a need to escape but you need to be aware that there are A LOT of people wanting to come here from countries that suck so you will just have to wait your turn in line.  Many of those entering the US don't have a legitimate asylum claim and many of them are outright criminals so you can blame them for the heightened security measures at our border.  It also helps if you have some money (hint - don't spend thousands on someone to smuggle you into the country).  By being allowed to become legal citizens here it is imperative that you become a contributing member of society so the tax payers won't have to support you in your new life in America.  It is also greatly appreciated if you bother to learn our local language.  92,99,76,0,B

That sums it up in a nutshell. Short and to the point.

That was good LOL .

Sums up my thoughts on that matter.

"a much more difficult time", meaning we'll pull your kids from your arms and you may lose them forever. People who paper over, ignore or laugh at that kind of obscenity don't need to worry about going to heaven when they die- they have no soul left to save.

Obey the law, treat people humanely, and don't keep looking for new ways to be cruel.

Treating those fleeing other countries worse then animals due to a legal status and imaginary line on a map then saying condescendingly "oh just do it the right way and its ok and your welcome" while such horrible things are going on right beside you?

Nah, just because its a law or the "right way" doesn't make treating people like this a good thing. You are supporting evil by being okay with this in the name of the law.

Taking children from parents, putting people in holds in the heat, is in no uncertain terms evil. We are to blame for this too, not "the criminals".

Nothing said will change that and backhanding a post like this at the problem and trying to make it about what some old men in a building decided isn't a good thing.

We can be better then this John.

There is no imaginary line the line is real there is absolutely no reason that others country's cannot be like the United States the problem with those country's is the law here we are a country of laws and when the law is enforced and maintained we are better for it when the law is corrupted we weaken.
I wonder how many open border sheep keep their homes locked when they sleep why not just keep them open so they can help the poor poor Invaders .
The only reason this border issue is going on now is because of mob politics and all I know is I don't belong to any mob I don't belong to emotional bait or feed on anger . Ileagal alien's don't belong here because they are ileagal as John says they need to come in through the door and not sneak over the fence . God bless America

totally agree with you John. Considering that the amount of remittances going to countries south of our border is in the 10's of BILLIONS of dollars while our social services are being stretched to the max to help care for those who come here ILLEGALLY, my sympathies stop at the border. Come here legally or stand up and fight for your country.

Robert, it is funny you mention sheep and this situation. I'll break it down in a way you can understand, I hope, at what people are getting at with pointing out how wrong the situation is at some line drawn somewhere in the sand by somebody.

---

"“The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you didn’t give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; I was a stranger, and you didn’t take me in; naked, and you didn’t clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

“Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and didn’t help you?’

“Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you didn’t do it to one of the least of these, you didn’t do it to me.’ These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

---

tl:dr? How we treat the worst of us, even those who break the law or are in prison, is how we can expect to be treated. There are no boundries or provisions when it comes to human decency.

No "FYI you have to do X first, or do this thing this way, or its to crowded" or whatever clause in that. No pointing at other people as an excuse. Last I'll say on it and some folks may disagree and happily are welcome to argue with what I've laid out here-

- but you an't really talking "politics" when it comes to this, or talking it over with me for that matter. Take it up with the original author of the idea of common decency.

Joshua Long...Quoting scripture is worthless when dealing with a Godless society. Even though the conditions are far from ideal for these immigrants, they have a chance at a life far better in the US than what they are running from. Media accounts should be taken with a huge grain of salt. It is logistically impossible to provide treatment and shelter adequate enough to appease the bleeding heart progressives who are only using this as another way to attack Trump. When it comes right down to it, they want nothing less than a totally open border which is extremely unrealistic. Like I said above, it is the criminal faction that is to blame for the circumstances of those who have a legitimate claim for asylum. You should also blame Mexico for being such a shit hole that they won't support their fellow Latin Americans.

John, since you appear to celebrate the 4th I assume you are OK with Jefferson and his bleeding heart progressive buddies attacking King George to keep him in check, so how is it a bad thing to have today's bleeding heart progressives attacking Emperor Trump to keep him in check?

And why is it worthless for Joshua Long to quote scripture when dealing with a Godless society while you do it most every Sunday?

Robert said...

The United States has 48 ports of entry on the southern border
following the law isn't so hard really, if I recall crossing into Mexico illegally can get you 2 to 10 years but SWJ emotional response is all I have been seeing .

It really is good to be a U.S. Citizen

John Wells said...

greg… Actually I don't really "celebrate" any holiday. The people attacking Trump (and I am no fan of Trump) don't give a rat's ass about the people affected and are just doing it because they hate that fact they lost the election and a chance to further their progressive agenda. Quoting scripture in regard to our nations policies if one is trying to tell people how they should act makes no sense when in fact those very people are not inclined to accept Jesus Christ as their savior and are not beholden to God's word. I choose to share my relationship with Christ on my Sunday posts because the Holy Spirit moves me to.

greg said...

OK, maybe celebrate was a little strong but you did title the post "happy fourth". And I'm impressed that you somehow know the motivation of everyone calling out Trump and know that none of them give a rats ass.

So are you saying that the Bible is only for those that have already accepted Christ and is wasted on everyone else?

John, I agree with everything you said in your post as well as your comments. You are so right!

Here is the best visual argument for immigration control I have seen.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPjzfGChGlE

We are not fixing the problem of abject poverty in the world by having open borders. And as this gentleman states, we most certainly are harming our own impoverished by not controlling our borders.

Come here legally...and assimilate; as I am expected to do if I choose to immigrate to any other country in this world.

can we please deport all liberals, at least from texas lol

Thank you John for your common sense. Your points are well made.

To Greg - no, the Bible is NOT just for people who have "already accepted Christ". In fact, the Old Testament:

"The Tanakh - the Hebrew Bible - contains all the same books as a Christian Protestant version of 'the Old Testament' with some trifling variations in verse numbering, except (and this is a big 'except') the books are not entirely in the same order. A Christian OT arranges the books such that the 'end' of the OT consists of prophecies of a return to Jerusalem and re-establishment of God's worship there. OUR Bible ends with the story of the return from Babylon and the re-establishment of God's worship in Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the temple.

Same set of books. Different story." (courtesy of Quora)

As far as the NEW Testament is concerned, it is certainly available to everyone for guidance and comfort. Acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior is a personal choice and hopeful result of reading and study.

There are so many issues surrounding the treatment of immigrants - separating families was certainly not a good move. The best that can be said (from a public health standpoint) is the children have been given health exams, preventive vaccines, and treatment for any illnesses, injuries or other issues identified.

The general population of the U.S. has absolutely NO CONCEPT of the magnitude of the illegal immigration dilemma. The first significant restrictions on immigration were embodied in the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. Since then, things have gotten a lot more detailed. "ICE executes its mission through the enforcement of more than 400 federal statutes, and focuses on smart immigration enforcement, preventing terrorism and combating the illegal movement of people and trade." (ICE website)

Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) defines several distinct offenses related to aliens. Subsection 1324(a)(1)(i)-(v) prohibits alien smuggling, domestic transportation of unauthorized aliens, concealing or harboring unauthorized aliens, encouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens to enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and abetting any of the preceding acts. Subsection 1324(a)(2) prohibits bringing or attempting to bring unauthorized aliens to the United States in any manner whatsoever, even at a designated port of entry. Subsection 1324(a)(3).

THAT is just the tip of the iceberg. For over 200 years, industries that needs low wage labor (railroad, farm, textile, manufacturing, seasonal, construction) has relied on immigrants who would do jobs other people would NOT or could not do. Once the need for these workers is gone (the railroad is built, the crops picked), the workers are told to go home. Then the dilemma begins.

But I could go on and on. And I suspect I am preaching to the choir. So, I will bid you farewell for now. Thank you for your blog.

You know, I said I wasn't going to say anymore but stumbled on something I think should be shared here. Takes a nice look at the bigger picture and I hope might get things across more articulately then I am able.
