Christmas 2012
Got a Christmas present for Ben today thanks to Dick Cain. Another soon to be steer named Bud (He just got banded today). Now Ben has a buddy. I see a future ox team. Bud's mother is only a two year old cow so he is a bit of a runt and was stunting his mother's growth. He is 5 months old. Ben is spending his first night out in the new fenced area now that he has a companion (other than Carl). It's gonna be a cold night and Bud is gonna be missing his mamma so I hope they huddle up together. 48,67,47,0,W,0
Merry Christmas, John...
ReplyDeleteBud is a doll and Ben seems so happy to have a (bovine) companion. We'll be following the updates. (Hope Carl isn't taking this bad.) Mr. Cain's a sweetheart. Hope he enjoyed his new "cell phone."
ReplyDeleteyou have doubled the size of your herd, Merry Christmas JW
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas John
ReplyDeleteGreat two longhorns even more fun for you and all of us followers of your life!
ReplyDeleteB-boys on the range - hope it's a good Christmas all the way around in the Big BENd.
ReplyDeleteThe warmth and companionship of two is a good thing. I laughed with sheer joy, bless Mr. Cain he solved two problems with one gift.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to build a herd with two neutered steers (grin).
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas (end of the day)!
ReplyDeleteEven my son's pet prairie dog has a pet prairie dog. Doubling seems to be a good thing.
Dick Cain gives a gift of a wonderful dinner of Rocky Mountain Oysters, and John is letting them go to waste.
ReplyDeleteWaste not, want not.
Sorry, but I've tried Rocky Mountain Oysters....they creep me out and I can't enjoy them. Banding is much less intrusive than cutting and by the time it all drops off there are no oysters left.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Ben has someone to keep him company.
ReplyDeleteMerry, Merry John. God bless you and all that you do in 2013.
