UPS Manny making a delivery. "The last mile" is used to describe the most inefficient and costly portion of any delivery service....getting that package to the door. Manny always comes through like a champ. I met him by the highway and he allowed me to set up the drone in active track mode so it would follow him out to my house. That round trip from the highway takes about 15 minutes. News Theme by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...) That UPS truck looks like a desert racer tearing around those many curves. How many times faster than actual - have you speed up the apparent speed of this desert racer? The clasped time from start to being parked in your driveway was roughly one minute. Having driven that route a few times - I don't believe a USP truck can make it in that amount of time? Enjoyed the film & was amazed at all the tricks you have taught your drone to do.
I asked Manny to keep it around 30 mph so the drone could keep up with him for the 2.5 mile trip which took about 5 minutes. The video was sped up 700%. If that was real time, he would have been driving 150 mph.
Another amazing video with the drone! The first time I watched it I thought maybe you slowed it down slightly when he went through the washes. The second time, I wasn't sure. It may have been just my stomach watching a wash approaching. Nice guy. Choreography/music were great. Thanks!
John, I've followed you since before our trip to the Field Lab from North Dakota probably about 10 years ago, and probably commented only 5 times (about one comment every 2 years) : Best video yet!
Lol. Snifty. Saw you. Saw your rooster greet him (neat). Saw his movie star mug shot for the drone. :-) You are getting pretty good with the drone. Not safe to be near your place with all that spy equipment. But I now think I could find your place. Of course not safe without an appointment with all the ammo there. :-) Enjoyed this video. TY. I like where he put the package. Your rooster is quite a little soul.

Pretty neat!
ReplyDeleteDon't know why but I always pictured you having pretty much a straight drive from the highway. I stand corrected. Excellent video.

ReplyDeleteSome kind of cool! How did it follow him? Does it do it visually or do you hang a tracking device on him or were you flying it.

ReplyDeleteMaybe a way to meet your UPS drive at the main road on those muddy days, i.e. a hopper underneath the drone?
