Mom (Crazy Aunt Jean) continues to work and move through my life and I see she's still taking time to sit with you as well, there on the edge of Texas.

This is such a sweet, touching post and I'm so very grateful for having seen it. I am "one of those" born again Christians, yes Satan is very real, sadly too many people are so caught up in the so called "real world", the physical reality that they don't realize there is an equally real spiritual world, in fact there is a very real spiritual battle going on for your very soul. I'm glad to see that you recognize this very important fact and are willing to do something about it. :)

I have been blogging for as long as you about living off grid, I have also just started adding in a bit more about my faith, though I have sprinkled it in some here and there, I've tried to keep my writing off grid related, until recently, perhaps with things going the way they are in this world, we are beginning to recognize this is most likely end times we are living in.

WrethaWrethaOffGridhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04941116263529261885noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6120586935905234915.post-87202132124420286392012-10-01T11:35:50.742-05:002012-10-01T11:35:50.742-05:00It takes courage to make yourself vulnerable throu...It takes courage to make yourself vulnerable through the sharing of your life, thoughts and faith.

Thank you John for sharing your faith and your life.Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16993416765925362476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6120586935905234915.post-9892366997282447222012-10-01T11:26:41.775-05:002012-10-01T11:26:41.775-05:00I have no desire to dilute or distract from the su...I have no desire to dilute or distract from the substance of your post John, so I'll just say thanks for the sunset shot, it is spectacular.
Free will is a beautiful thing and everybody gets to exercise it every day until they are out of days.
Haters gonna hate.
question & embrace your beliefsremmijhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17985809654574916217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6120586935905234915.post-57663698251453506482012-10-01T11:15:26.010-05:002012-10-01T11:15:26.010-05:00First of all, the sunset spoke to me of G_d's ...First of all, the sunset spoke to me of G_d's glory almost as much as your story.
Yes the devil does steer us away from things that are good for us and others. Great Post. Enjoy the "wordier" posts, but always love the pictures.
Coffee Table book material if you ask me.

Now, for the comment by Chris Miller... have you lived on the other side of the world? If not, then.... Yes, you would be reading from a different book, but from my experience, the G_d is the same, just with a different name, and the beliefs are extremely similar. The love and caring and lack of backstabbing gossip/rudeness is amazing here.
Where is that you may ask? The United Arab Emirates where I work daily with muslims from here, Egypt, Jordan etc.
Living a life as one of G_d's children does not mean you are religious or of any denomination, as it can be non-denominational.
It is not possible for me to attend any "christian" services here, as I am on a tiny island with less than 20 native English speakers. There are still ways to be a child of G_d here, and they includes loving and caring for those who don't believe the same as me, but do agree there is a higher powerCindy Talbothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08411230171678289022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6120586935905234915.post-54036958053686592932012-10-01T11:12:54.167-05:002012-10-01T11:12:54.167-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Cindy Talbothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08411230171678289022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6120586935905234915.post-82214695867362526742012-10-01T10:55:46.651-05:002012-10-01T10:55:46.651-05:00To cindylouwho too,

Religion was created by man to, IMHO, control man. Christianity is having a relationship with Jesus. He doesn't control us; we have free will. God could take that away from us if He should choose but He wants us to WANT to be with Him. Without free will, it wouldn't be our choice, it would be His.
Relationship and communication with God: this is what makes a Christian a Christian. Religion has nothing to do with it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09381096745893230939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6120586935905234915.post-57558359362966429702012-10-01T08:16:22.850-05:002012-10-01T08:16:22.850-05:00Pam in CO

By being there alone basically in a hermitage and renewing your relationship your are following in the classic desert mystic tradition--a tradition that has produced some of the most important stories in the bible and some of our most important Saints.

"In the fourth century a.d. the deserts of Egypt, Palestine, Arabia and Persia were peopled by a race of men.... They sought a way to God that was uncharted and freely chosen, not inherited from others who had mapped it out beforehand. They sought a God whom they alone could find, not one who was 'given' in a set stereotyped form by somebody else." --Thomas Merton, The Wisdom of the Desert

I too have recently found the power of grace and prayer in my life and I cherish it. Also, you spreading the word here on the sabbath to your large audience may reach someone. And if you help just one soul in a dark place find the light of grace, then it would seem that is more important than any of others that may by turned off by seeing your sentiments on Sunday.

God bless you brother,
Dewey B. Religion is a big interest of mine, perhaps because it's beyond my capability to embrace.

One responder writes that John's readers who are not believers are, by definition, the devil (when they write of their different views). See, this is the aspect of religion that is harmful and hateful and frankly, too much in evidence in the world.
