I've shot them a lot but what I really enjoy shooting is black powder civil war era revolvers, nothing like them 8in barrels for accuracy out to 75 even 100 yds. If I was open carrying on my place like you I would strap one on. Huge fun to shoot, inexpensive and not even considered a firearm by the law.

I recently got one of these 1858 Remington New Model Army .44s from Cabelas and it is a fine shooter and excellent workmanship for only $179. The Colt 1860 Army is outstanding as well.

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Black-Powder/Pistols-Revolvers|/pc/104792580/c/104701680/sc/104503680/Pietta-Model-1858-New-Army-44-Caliber-Revolver/731695.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fshooting-black-powder-pistols-revolvers%2F_%2FN-1100201%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104503680%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104792580%253Bcat104701680&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104792580%3Bcat104701680%3Bcat104503680bayriderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01973602394952630821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6120586935905234915.post-43635222294286719082011-11-15T14:40:29.934-06:002011-11-15T14:40:29.934-06:00The police are law-enforcement officers. Who does the law protect: in theory, everyone, in reality, those who afford to bribe the politicians to write the laws to favor those people who can afford to bribe the politicians. Hence the selective enforcement of the law by the system where the poor go to jail and the rich go to rehab or probation if and when they are caught breaking the law. I carry for the same reason I have a multi-tool, locking folding knife, powerful flashlight, wristwatch, charged cell phone, cash, ID, etc; I am the master of my own fate, responsible for my own daily care and feeding. The only 99% occupation I have is a filled holster, locked and loaded, with back-up mag.

That said that reminds me, John. Do you carry a back-up magazine?
