Just over a year ago I took these pictures of my first sighting of Benita. She and her calf were both terribly skinny and covered with flies. A week after I took these photos, I never saw the calf again and reckon it died. That's when I decided to befriend Benita. Anyway...after she ate yesterday morning she headed NW and kept going when usually she would stop and graze and the end of my driveway. Not sure if or when I will see her again, but she is in much better shape now than when I first met her last year.Did a split shift today during the cool parts of the morning and late afternoon and mixed up a total of 19 bags of concrete to finish off the east and north entrances. Think I will take tomorrow off.
John it is really sad to think Benita lost her calf. Desert life can be harsh on the animals. You should feel good that Benita is much healthier because of YOU, and your snacks. With that said, do you think she was making a statement on your trumpet playing???? :)

John, Befriending has benefits few seldom see and at times ignore. I've seen you and I've seen Benita....you two make a great pair.

A couple of years ago, driving from Las Vegas back to Florida, I cut south off I-10 and did that wonderful loop drive through the Davis Mountains, and visited the fort at Fort Davis. I then drove the southern route so I could visit Langtry (which I had actually visited back in the late sixties).

I hope Benita will show back up. It's such a cool thing to make friends with a "critter". I live in the Hill Country and have Big Rack a ten point buck I feed. He stays in our yard, 8.5 acres, most of the time.

If it doesn't come back, it was never yours to begin with.
But, if it just sits in your living room,, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses your telephone, takes your money, and doesn't appear to realize that you had set it free, then you either married it or gave birth to it.
