"fab"rication

Had an excellent day of bringing imagination into physical reality. It all came together just as I had seen it in my head for so many days. Welded up the first of 12 truss supports a bit slowly but just as I had imagined it would come together. I think the reason I did not pursue photography is because it didn't give me the amount of satisfaction that sculpture does....and the greenhouse is the biggest sculpture I have ever built. Nice to be back in the physical labor groove again and way from the computer. 51,74,31,0

  2. Now that I have a radiator that don't dump water faster than I can pour it in I'll try to get out there before long.

  4. Do not diminish your photography, without your pics we wouldn't see your sculpture.

  5. That looks good and sturdy. Definitely a step up in design.

Perhaps when you have all this finished you can weld yourself a nice steel longhorn like this one:

  6. Warming up again I see, Please don't every give up your Photography. I look forward to see the new Pics every day that show your accomplishments on the Lab etc. Did you have one of those erector sets when you were a small lad? I did and we built all kinds of things. Keep up the good work.

  7. What you say is true, I am building a mobile chicken coop out of a 7' steel grain bin and hay wagon frame. It is taking on that look of art and my imagination is working on how to make all the functional stuff look cool. Keep on cranking on the work but use your photography to show the art to the world.

  8. I like Gavin's suggestion. Create your own herd of Longhorn cattle. No poop to clean up after and no feed bills!

Yours would be a work of art too!

  10. Bonita may not like the competition and she is so interesting! Am happy to see the SOLID supports as the wing can sure make a mess of things..still need a lighting rod.

  12. That's a good looking support JW. Thanks for posting, I've been curious to see how you would tie in to the arches. Well done!

  13. Yes,Yes,Yes! I really like the new design. Very robust, and should hold all the weight you're going to put on those arches.
I like your analogy of the greenhouse being a large sculpture. It really is. The satisfaction of designing something good, and building it well is hard to beat. It'll give you a good feeling every time you look at it for years to come. Way to go!
