Chef Boyhowdee

Five hours and two Field Lab visits and I finally got the south beam up'n'welded for the west side greenhouse awning.  Celebrated the achievement with Italian Night for supper.  Chef Boyardee pepperoni pizza maker mix with extra "real" cheese and fresh broccoli, mushrooms, and mesquite seasoning - cooked in the gas grill.  Had a late afternoon sprinkle that had potential but all it did was cut the dust.

  1. Long Draw pizza was very good. Looked like parts of south were getting nailed pretty good with rain, but when I was on the way home it looked like the rain stopped around Tevo's and was dry the rest of the way home (Including home)

  2. Just an observation from a long time lurker. The way the new patio roof looks, the doors are going to hit the roof when they open out. Is this just a visual problem from here.

    Great job so far

  3. Riverhauler - if that's the south "beam", it seems to indicate that the joists will rest atop it and clearance shouldn't be a problem for the doors opening under the awning.

John - Pizza looks great! Ok, yeah, the greenhouse progress is nice too, but I'm a slave to my tastebuds.

  5. Try using a flour tortilla as a base, then using pizza sauce in the jar, fresh toppings, microwave for 1 minute to melt the cheese and you're done!

  6. Really handsome doors & it's great how they make the new structure cohere with the old one. In fact, come to think of it, you could probably plop the greenhouse right next to the Artillery Sheds up at Chinati & fit right in, couldn'tcha?

  7. Your pizza looks great. I second tffnguy's remark: whenever we're in Terlingua, we try to have dinner at Long Draw Pizza, and it's always excellent.

The new beam looks nice. I was thinking that the west side awning would be bigger, and that you'd be able to use it as a carport, also. It would be nice to get the truck out of the direct sunlight.

  8. Just enough to cut the dust sounds pretty good to me right now. It's really getting bad here in Central TX.
