Finished up the first section of pavers today. Started off by pulling the forms off a near perfect pour from yesterday. 30 more full pieces and 9 chopped in half flushed it out. Cutting them was a breeze... cut/cut/drop. Scored a half inch deep cut on each side then dropped them on an angled up piece of 2x2 steel tubing. Swept the sand around and called it a good day. Our 40% chance of thunderstorms turned into only a light a sprinkle. 57,70,50, .01",C
Good Job! Looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteYou are a clever man... in any country, but esp. the one where you reside. I haven't seen any medium or task you have undertaken turn out anything but "beautiful". (Inside joke, that is the favorite word of the locals I am around everyday, say it with an accent)
ReplyDeleteVery nice John! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteEpic. Glorious. Imperial. Magnificent. Splendid.
ReplyDeleteBeauty! Love the technique for halving the pavers. That is a gorgeous interior.
ReplyDeleteLOL and for a moment there I thought your heading referred to a disco ball and I couldn't for the life of me figure our why you'd need that...
ReplyDeleteYour paving looks "baie lekker" (South African for very good) :)
It rains too damn much here.
ReplyDeleteAs a long time gawker at your blog, there is something extremely satisfying about that portion being paved.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, dude.
Gotta agree with Zach... hope you pulled up a chair, sat down and had a beer while admiring your work. Inspiration for us all.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you going to name that boulevard?
ReplyDeleteIt is a little premature but I would remove all the rubble from under the deck areas and plan on making some of the deck boards easily removable. Small items that I need always seem to drop between the cracks of my deck boards to never be seen again. Also a critter may get under there and either die and stink or set up house and you need to remove them.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, John! Sure like the ingenious method of breaking the pavers. Those diamond blades are awesome. You are creating a really good looking and comfortable space there. When finished, it will be so nice to sit out in that plant filled atrium of yours. Especially when the winds are howling outside, to have that large enclosed calm space will be so comforting.
