strip malls and stop lights
Decided on a plant run today. Considered Odessa but settled on going only half the distance to Ft. Stockton. Nice to know that the closest stoplight is over 2 hours away. Trying to fill in the courtyard with more food forest experiments and just plain leafy stuff - peppers, tomatoes, aloe, agave, palms, strawberries, apricot, pear, peach, onion, garlic, grapes.
Long day away and came home to a nice surprise in my mailbox...gifts from Korea from Allen and Ok Hwa's recent trip. Allen says the cups are meant for sake but they work fine for tequila... 75,82,59,0,B,0
I'll be tending plants again soon, but when I did grow lots of house plants and garden veggies folks often oooh'd and ahhh'd over the veggie bounty and the prolific growth of the other plants.
ReplyDeleteI'll share my 'secret' - Miracle Grow. Liquid for the house plants - a little added to the water every other watering and solid for the garden, applied as directed.

I would caution everyone to be careful about using anything that Monsanto's has their dirty paws on.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you can find *somebody* who's against *any* product you can name.
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about how 'close' Fort Stockton is to TFL. We used to come out through Fort Stockton, and even spent the night there a couple times. It's an O.K. little town. Not a whole lot there, and a long way from everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a variety of plants you're experimenting with there, John. Hope all of 'em work out for you.
Thanks for featuring us today. Careful with those cups.
J, I am sure you're right. I just think it would be nice to be aware enough to avoid buying the ones that are killing off a whole lot of nature.
ReplyDeleteFor the food forest, don't ignore nut trees like pecans and macadamias. Also there are Chestnuts, Hazelnuts, and Walnuts, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe 'dirtdoctor.com' has some great organic gardening info as well as other good info. JW good luck on your garden.
ReplyDeleteThe organic gardening is such a nice ambiance I like the idea. Thanks!
