Gotten buzzed by 4 of these at a time - three times so far this year...flying LOW.  Maybe they heard I have an assault rooster.  47,65,26,0,B,0

  1. C-130. No countermeasures, so unlikely to be an AC-

  3. You live in the desert (within a UN designated reserve area), own WMD's, have a beard and dance with cows. LOL of course you are being watched.....really the plane has Texas Air National Guard markings so they're just getting some weekend stick time.

  4. Texas air NG C130. Our Oklahoma gaurd has been really active lately, it's training season.

  5. C130 for sure. Why no numbers identifying the plane?

    That's not right.

  6. does appear to be visiting from KDYS, southwest of Abilene - 40th Airlift Squadron "Screaming Eagles" (C-130H/J) ("Dyess" Blue tail stripe) - C-130J "Super" Hercules sporting the 6 blade prop. Doesn't need to be an AC to be lethal - see the Harvest Hawk:

Dyess could be the source of B-1Bs that overfly you too. Carl will need a bunker... some of those things probably have XX pilots, who would take a dim view of being pecked from below... and there would be collateral damage.

  7. guess it could be the 39th Airlift Squadron (39 AS) - Trailblazers - United States Air Force unit, also based at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas. I don't know how to tell them apart from the photo.
btw, Dale's comment was pretty funny - DHS will probably cut&paste that description into their threat assessment profile - any cross species dancing will be suspect.

  8. Have you folks out there seen Bright Orange planes, always three to a group, flying at hilltop level? About once or twice a month here in the hill country. figman

  13. Practicing low-level terrain following to avoid radar for covert insertions I'd imagine. There was a a tethered blimp radar station just east of Marfa back in the 90's/00's.
