  6. Those scars will add character, even more than you already have. Do you think you can hitch a ride back home on the helicopter?

  8. yeah buddy, looks pretty good actually. Glad to see you're coming home. Ain't nothing like your own bed. Now be a good boy and follow docs orders and don't break it again just before it's healed like I did. Some folks never learn ( like me )!

  9. I'm never getting on an ATV again. Thanks, JW.

  10. I'm just sitting here wishing the new stove got plumbed in and some firewood racked before you went riding - if so you're going to have a warm place to cocoon in...

If not, calling the locals to make it so!

  12. That's good news John. There's no place like home!

  13. Yikes. Considering everything you're leg and ankle and foot look really good. Hope it stays that way and you can keep the sand out. Without a lot of swelling and with a smaller ankle, that's an indication you can have a longer life. Really baby yourself, aside from any HOME PT and following doctors advice. It would be good if you could get some home help for awhile and a shopper to Alpine. Really be lazy for several weeks until the bones mend and then still be careful for a few months. And then it will be mostly done. And you have the rest of your life.

  14. Oh, now on alcohol. Alcohol from my past experience does not help pain and could interfere with any medication. Far better to abstain from a celebration beverage until you are all healed up.

  15. Looks pretty good. Don't let yourself get addicted to that gold old hydrocodone. I'm sure they'll send you home with plenty of that.

  16. Hope you don't mind all the advice. Years ago I was telling a son what I heard on international news on short wave radio about S.E. Asian sex workers. Then he said he would wear a complete rubber body suit. That shut me up.

  17. Looks like you're lucky to have that leg back!

Be sure to give your medical staff an endorsement and a Benita T-shirt, too!

  19. I am no doctor but it looks like you took a good hit.

At least you were in the ground, would hate to think how much worst it could have been had you been up in the sky.

May you have a speedy recovery.

  22. I just remembered that on the previous post someone mentioned John learning web design now that he has some mandatory recovery time. If that is the case and for any of you that may be interested this is a great resource for learning code.

  24. S.A.B.L.E., I never heard that about scars. That's a good one. I'll have to remember that when people show their tatoos. That's just like wrinkles and lines. To me it is a map of a person's life. And I earned all of mine and I am glad to be alive today. I keep my lines and so far any white hair because if I looked too young people would come onto me too strong and stress me. But I sure admire the energy of the younger people.

  25. Glad to here you will be home soon. Not sure what I missed most. All the animals, the great scenery, the sharp wit or constantly knowing the weather in Terlingua. :) Pray for speedy healing. Psalms 103, psalm 91 good ones for building faith in protection.

  31. John, I bet your doctor never thought his handiwork would be on the world-wide internet. He must have thought you would be a hard man to hold down so he had to staple everything. In old, seedy, underground Seattle, people flocked to Dr. Maynard from Cleveland, OH, for their favorite painkiller of Laudnum (Opium and Alcohol). That was where the seedy people mined the miners who came to town.

  32. Seattle and Vancouver are interesting cities to visit. One time I was walking by the business area in downtown Seattle to see a lawyer. I had a beige trench coat on and high heels and everyone was snickering. I looked around and there was the handsome blond male harmonica player homeless man walking behind me mocking my feminine, haughty walk. Yes I was annoyed.

  33. If a person travels 60 miles north of Seattle to Bellingham, there is the Alaska Marine Highway System. There a person can take an inexpensive, leisurely ship trip up the inland passage of Alaska stopping at all the villages and towns. It is beautiful.

  34. [Shudder]

You are just so very, very lucky it wasn't your head that got mangled like that.

I agree with Linda: sell that paramotor thing and plant alfalfa in the landing field instead.

  35. Been looking at your Facebook, John. Very interesting. You sure have alot of friends. I haven't done Facebook. This relaxes me to look at the postings - takes me away from my problems. I just got swindled out of $339.00 from EWS-Endurance auto repair co. In Chicago. My fault. It will be o.k. The bank fraud dept. is handling it. I have a good bank-USAA Military Bank.
