I'd like to have a few chickens around the yard just for their company but between my dogs, coyotes, raccoons, falcons, etc., it's just not feasible. So I enjoy feeding the wild birds and doves. Sometimes I have quite a flock in the front yard. I try not to begrudge the falcon a successful hunt now and then. Spreading the seeds under trees protects the doves most of the time.
I know what's on Mr. Jack's bucket list.
ReplyDeleteI see that the rooster is on wake-up call or sentry duty.
ReplyDeleteAre you still getting eggs from your hens?
ReplyDeleteBoth hens were killed by raccoons last year...I just have 3 roosters now.
ReplyDeleteOh no. So sorry to hear about the hens. But that is a very handsome rooster.
ReplyDeleteAre hens hard to come by, I wonder.
