  1. They seem like nice people. Not surprising they're so successful.
    I wish them the best.

  2. I don't blame them but it's sad we're losing the store. It sure was convenient.

  3. This stinks! Was so nice to have a store less than 2 miles away where I could get something in a pinch. I guess the Cottonwood - which is great but much further - is it now. :(

  4. How sad for the residents. Too bad someone else could not take over.

  5. Hopefully, the loss of that very convenient store - will provide an opportunity for another existing establishment to expand what they sell? For example, possibly the Longhorn Motel or American Legion could expand what they sell? In low population areas - like Brewster County - the sale of multiple services, or products, without major increases in labor or investment is a method to increase profits.

  6. It's hard to compete against the big boys much less Amazon and UPS.

  7. Below are two videos about our vanishing country stores ... a little long but worth watching.

  8. TY Sam. i truly enjoyed the clips. Yes, I recognize W. VA. My immediate family left the general store, etc. from there and OH and PA and W. VA and graduated from college in the big city and moved on. (Almost thank God). And I lived in Canada and enjoyed that one too.
