    and solar is certainly changing the world in ways many may not fully appreciate.

    Friends visited Africa recently - and way out in the middle of nowhere - local people are flocking to the village store which has solar panels - to charge their cell phones!

    John was one of the first off gridders who embraced technology via his daily blog, facilitated by a government rule that phone companies provide lines regardless of their cost. Through those twisted pairs, Internet DSL provided a bi-directional window.
