a friday night film




Rabbits having dinner.  Over the years, my desert cottontail population has grown to about 50 individuals.  They know they have plenty to eat and drink here and are relatively safe from predators.  Although they are fairly tame, they aren't quite up for hug...yet.  They eat Ben's leftover alfalfa and range cubes as well as a nightly serving of rabbit chow and a couple of carrots.  This meal was served on a luncheon plate from my mothers set of Haviland china that I inherited.  Limoges Chrysanthemum pattern - Schleiger #86.  News Theme by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...)

    Woke up at 4:30 AM this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. Decided a good way to kill some time before sunrise would be to edit tonight's film. Took 3 hours to go through the footage, find an appropriate soundtrack from the audio libraries, and put it all together. You would probably be surprised how much sound is available on the internet. Did all the work on my new super laptop. Only took 1 minute to render the 3+ minute video - my old computer would have taken almost an hour. Upload time was 65 minutes but that is due to the low upload speed of my internet connection.

    I showed Magic - my hunting Lab - your great video with all those rabbits. He has never seen so many rabbits anywhere on Terlingua Ranch. Now he wants to come visit you and thin those critters out!

    That made my weekend and it's only Friday night! Perfect music and great timing on that last giant leap at the end. I'm an editor by trade so I appreciate all the work that went into that production. Well done!!!

    Yes, Ronald, in the old days the ranchers gave people a gun and ammo and wanted them to thin out the rabbits. So sad. Then there was a big BBQ but I went home. Guess that wasn't my forte then.

    Haviland, huh? I had some blue and gold on white Haviland from family. At one point with my children when we lived in WWII Quanset huts for the summer under a railroad trellis on beautiful Lake Superior, MI, when I finished college, I brought out the Haviland for everyday. I wanted some elegance in those surroundings. When my mother found out years later she berated me so badly for using them. :-0 I see your rabbits were very careful with your plate. That was a cute video.

    Sam...I bet it was Bennett Jones. We were in college at University of North Carolina at Greensboro at the same time 40 years ago but never met until I moved here 9 years ago.

    I shot 40 minutes of video then spread out what was left over. There is no bickering when they have a little more room to eat. It usually takes them 2 hours to finish it all off.

    So cute, just watched the television program, as I could not sleep.
    Though I will be forced to get up in a few hours by a puppy who is sleping peace full on his back.
