Atorvastatin calcium 10 mg. "Atorvastatin is used in the treatment of high cholesterol; prevention of cardiovascular disease; high cholesterol, familial homozygous; high cholesterol, familial heterozygous; hyperlipoproteinemia (and more), and belongs to the drug class statins."
I never heard of that pill. I should ask my doctor (or rather medical tech since the doctors are mostly not available now days because they cannot make the big bucks they went to school for because of Obama Care).
Poorly worded last sentence. Oh well, whatever. There sometimes comes a point where one cannot do it all with healthy food and living and should take a staten. Nowadays I constantly hear of a friend I have lost. Should be kind because one never knows which day that person might not be there. My most recent loss was a veteran who had smoked a lot and was on oxygen. He went to a nursing home and they did not give him his oxygen and he had a heart attack and died. (His wife he brought from Mexico could have been home counting her money).
Changed docs when I got on medicare. He immediately took me off of statins!!! He said I could die from cholesterol or from Statins; my choice !! I went to see a liver specialist at Univ of Florida. She said "IF you have to,limit the statin to 10 milligram. She was not a big fan of Statins either.
Made the life changing decisions, mostly around diet.
drugs are a double-edged sword.. especially if you are taking more than one.. different folks are affected in different ways and the 'experts' themselves have differing views.
so you pays your money and makes your choices.. and like a lot of other things - decide if you believe a "consensus" of the experts or others who don't agree with the consensus.
Life is complicated... ;-) Our ancestors did not have all these choices and a ton of information some of it conflicting. Life was simpler and they did tend to die at earlier ages in their everyday life .. rather than in "nursing facilities".
Well ... I guess this old guy will have to do some research and talk to his doctor about his Atorvastatin. Making important decisions is not the old guy's favorite activity.
Coronary heart disease is not a normal consequence of aging. It is a food born illness. Statins will give you pretty blood work and reduce your risk by 1.8% Plant based nutrition does a whole lot better. In Essylstyn's 2014 study of 177 subjects there was one cardiac event while 60% had events in the control group receiving usual care.
I split mine in Half and suffer less from the side effects and cholesterol numbers are still coming down . Interesting enough in Europe and Australia satin's are sold over the counter ! Go Figure !!!!
