Well...I fully expected to be hunkered down inside all day with the predicted rainstorm - but that didn't happen (yet). Had nothing planned so I came up with a long overdue chore to attend to. Dragged my beast of a mattress outside to clean (hydrogen peroxide, water, baking soda, dish soap) and air out for the day. It is quite a chore to move it as it is rather bulky and takes up a quarter of my living space inside the hut. It also gave me the opportunity to repair some wiring that was hidden beneath it - my kitchen light hasn't worked for over a year. 88,100,76,0,B

ReplyDeleteYou might look into a cooling mattress topper on Amazon. They weigh about 15 pounds and would protect your mattress for a reasonable price. Mattress pads work too and would help to keep your mattress clean.

I already use a high quality mattress pad but this mattress is 15 years old and is showing it's age.

ReplyDeleteIt is actually in pretty good shape considering the age - because I clean it, air it out, and flip it once a year.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing good. It sounds as if you still have some life in it. Guess you heard the old saying, "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!"
ReplyDeleteNot a good idea to have wiring, or connections, under carpeting or a mattress. Could be a fire hazard.

ReplyDeleteWhyR....thank you for your insight. The wiring was not in contact with the mattress - even I am smarter than that. I thought about saying that the wiring was attached to the side of platform that the mattress was on - but that was just too wordy.
