Very close. Runner and gates are good - just need a little more molten metal for pressure to get to all the letters (lost some detail in the bottom right corner). Cast number four tomorrow. I may sell the test casts if anyone is interested. How much would you pay for one of them...? 91.94,74.0.B
Passionate pursuit of perfection. Splendid to see. The kind regards…(according to some translations). These casts look big. How much do they weigh?
ReplyDeleteThey are 4 1/4" x 6" x 1/4" thick and weigh 1 3/4 pounds.
ReplyDeleteJohn, I found Mossy Bottom on You Tube, a young Englishman who moved to Ireland for a simpler life. It's a bit like The Field Lab, only with more rain and less sun.
ReplyDeleteJohn I collect coins, even some new, large 5oz copper ones I like to experiment with finishes. Try using a torch, carefully heating can give you a rainbow of colors. If you don't like the look- just heat it all up hot, to start over. After the coloring I use some 'Liver of Sulphur' to add an aged look... then buff off the high spots.
ReplyDeleteI would be interested in buying one of the 1st 4? No hurry- It is your art- so name a price?
John, here is video of coloring copper with flame- https://youtu.be/0_2HJFlKFuc
