melting pot
Six pounds of newly alloyed aluminum bronze ready for casting.
What kind of mold do you use to cast your bronze ingots or bars into? Even with graphite powdered small cupcake pan, I've had some of my fresh aluminum bronze alloy bond to the metal so tight I couldn't get them out without a piece of the iron pan adhered. Thank you
Hachita... I haven't had much luck with muffin pans either - thinking the problem is that they are made with such thin metal. I welded together an ingot mold using steel angle iron and a couple of flat bars (all 1/8" thick). The bronze does not stick to it even without using graphite powder. https://thefieldlab.blogspot.com/2021/03/moldy.html
was that a mozzarella vessel in a previous life?
ReplyDeleteYes, it was. Good eye...
