the old girl
Feeling a bit nostalgic today. My friend Jim Boatman posted some old pics today on Benita's Facebook page. I would have to say that the most unique experience I have had since moving here was befriending an old longhorn cow that had lived wild for 20 years. 79,86,62, .14",C
Without you, she would not have had the happy last few years of her life. You gave her food she could eat and water in the summer where she didn't have to roam too far. Wish there had been a little different ending.
Haven't seen that one before. Looks like it was her very own parking spot with valet water. Benita really had a wonderful retirement. Wonder how the kids are doing?
There are so many animals out there that need our help. Our two dogs came from a local shelter. It was hard to leave the shelter with only two! They all seemed to know what was going on and wanted to leave with us. Following a friends example we try to drop off a bag of food now and then. Many shelters are going through tough times in this economy.
I just noticed how she tilted her head back and forth when you approached. She really liked and appreciated you. It's so easy to be an armchair spectator.
I'm glad you shared the experience.
ReplyDeleteI remember meeting Benita, she was a fine looking gal. Been awhile since I have been down your way. Need to get back there some day.

ReplyDeleteYou were so good to her...I know she appreciated all you did for her.
I had forgotten she was so speckled! Beautiful, beautiful animal.
ReplyDeleteLet's all take a pass on eating other Benitas...if only once or twice...in her honor.
