backup before it's too late...
The trusty old PC is starting to have some issues. Before I sort out why the brain behind this operation is bogging down so much, I took the opportunity to backup files to 2 redundant external hard drives. 68,80,47,0,B
I like the EZ Gig IV cloning software with a spare harddrive that will fit the laptop. If the existing drive is just corrupted, a really easy clone from the spare gets it going, complete with OS, all installed programs, data and settings. If the hard drive is gone, you "simply" swap in your spare cloned drive. This kit covers all types of drives including the older "pata" drives (not common at stores). A slightly lower cost kit provides EZ GIG IV software and a cable for today's common "sata" drives, usually installed in laptops from 2008 forward.
smart...facing the end of XP next month...time to move on to 7
ReplyDeleteCrashplan is a great way to backup 24/7 without thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteWhere are you in the process of the off grid solar power system?
ReplyDeleteCindy...I am still waiting on the tracking circuits that I ordered to arrive.
ReplyDeleteOh, Ok, good to know. Looking forward to learning what to order and how to set it up.

ReplyDeleteTry Puppy Linux before before making Mr. Gates even richer. It works great for me.
ReplyDeleteOn second thought, I think I'll take the above advice but go the Ubuntu route .
