Big Boy

Took a little overnighter in Alpine to shoot the Big Boy as it rolled in last night and left this morning.  Video Monday.  Took a real shower and pooped in a real toilet for the first time in years at the Highland Inn.  (sorry - no video of that)  57,65,36,0,B

Ever consider steam as an energy source????

I played around with a solar concentrator back in 2006 using the heat of the sun to make steam. Solar panels make energy from the sun much more easily than a steam engine...and no moving parts to maintain. https://youtu.be/DJWt4VpMCHk

I see the train made an overnight stop close to you. Were their many passengers & did you get to meet any of them?

Don't know how many people were on the train. I didn't meet any of them.

Once upon a time...... I remember....... And the custom of running along beside the train waving as the train pulled out...... Dressed up in our best.......And the polite porters ......And the fancy dining car with the white table clothes.......And the comfortable special state rooms. My grandfather operated the train station when he had a crystal to use for communication in Green River, Wyoming. Then, later, there were the magnificent train displays at the Chicago Fair. Some of the tracks need fixing now days.

Forgot the whistle. That was exciting.

And of course we always waved to the conductor.

Sometimes the smoke was annoying.

Now that is quite a steam engine. Both my grandfathers worked on the railroad in the steam are, one an engineer and one a conductor.

That was suppose to be "steam era". Got my fingers out of sync (grin).
