Pandemic Saturday

The really sad thing is...this appropriate mashup that first appeared on Twitter isn't nearly as embarrassing as the full interview.  "It is what it is" when speaking about the number of deaths from Covid-19...now over 160,000 in the US.  This from a president that assured the country back in January, "It's one person coming in from China.  We have it under control.  It's going to be just fine,"...and has repeatedly downplayed the crisis and keeps doubling down on all his lies.

When I first watched this my blood pressure shot up so high I thought I was going to have a stroke. I had to watch it a second time to even let my brain wrap around the insanity. He is evil and stupid. That is supposedly the person with the nuclear codes...with nothing left to lose...controlled by Putin who is smarter than your average bear.
I hope you are ready for what is coming because I do not believe we have seen the worst yet.
I saw where Sturgis has a quarter of a million participants this year and no masks in view. They will travel back to their homes to help spread this disease at an even more rapid rate. Why hasn't this idiot been put in a white tight jacket and been hauled away to a nice padded cell? Yup...GOP

I find it hard to believe if there is anyone in Washington that isn't ashamed and embarrassed that this man is president.

Thanks John. Too funny. (And too sickening)

Every American citizen should be ashamed, embarrassed and outraged. When millions of families are homeless from the upcoming evictions I hope they all pitch their tents on his golf properties. I wish I had any hope at all there will even be an election. I do believe there will be a revolution. Right after it is too late.

I have to agree with Penelope my blood pressure which is already ridiculously high shot even higher. At the time all I had watched were snippets on cable news. The full interview is eye-opening.

The reporter did a hell of a job interviewing him and confronting his lies. Every American should watch this and be rightfully outraged!

Antidesign... You are playing Trump's game of vilifying the left's ability to take us into the future. China has the leg up on the U.S. in part because its authoritarian government can strategically plan for the long term, unencumbered by competing branches of government, regular elections, and public opinion. Yet this faith in autocratic ascendance and democratic decline is contrary to historical fact. China may be able to put forth big, bold plans—the kinds of projects that analysts think of as long term—but the visionary projects of autocrats don’t usually pan out. Democratic governments are obligated to answer to their citizens on regular intervals and are sensitive to public opinion—that’s actually democracies’ greatest source of strength. Democratic leaders have a harder time advancing big, bold agendas, but the upside of that difficulty is that the plans that do make it through the system have been carefully considered and enjoy domestic support. Historically speaking, once a democracy comes up with a successful strategy, it sticks with the plan, even through a succession of leadership. Now think, how can an immature narcissistic bully who constantly lies to the American people be a good leader for this country and a respected example for the world? He doesn't just spin the truth as politicians normally do - he totally disregards the truth and doubles down on every lie thinking that if he repeats it enough, he will be believed in as he believes in himself. I'm not saying Biden is the next great savior, but at least he better resembles the kind of mature statesman that history has shown to be the most effect way to lead us ahead. ...and it would be nice to have a president who doesn't embarrass himself almost daily on Twitter.

You have your head in the desert sand. Biben will never be president. He is not mentally able. If he should win the V.P. will president. However, I think a lot of words will be eaten in November. The silent majority will prevail with common sense.

MD... If there was any hint of common sense in the voting public, Ted Cruz would be running for re election and there wouldn't be 160,000 Americans who have died from Covid-19.

My comment on your post about Cova deaths was removed. I will ask again. How many babies have been murdered and what is the death toll for annual flu. Answer is?

@Mark Ducroz

Average annual flu deaths in the US since 2010 range between 12K - 61K. As of today, after only 5.5 months, the US is at 165,831 deaths from Covid-19, with projections indicating we'll hit up to 300K deaths by end of 2020. This data is according to the CDC.

Keep in mind, these are just deaths. The number of those who've recovered but will have life-long disability due to irreversible cardiovascular, neurological (brain damage) and pulmonary damage has yet to be determined. But given the assessments from the front-line workers, those numbers will far exceed those who have died.

Not sure why you're bringing fetus deaths into the equation, frankly.

So, wear the mask if you'd like. Trump and the GOP are quite busy dismantling the social safety net designed to help those who will be permanently disabled. So if you are unfortunate enough to wind up on permanent disability, hopefully you have family who will buy your oxygen and meds, keep you in depends, and willing to wipe your ass when you are bedridden.

Enjoy the ride. You'll have earned it!
