Sad day for democracy

Trump gave a speech this morning to his supporters who are in DC
to protest the election results.
After reiterating his baseless claims of voter fraud, he told his minions:
"We will never give up...we will never concede."
It is no surprise that a few hours later his gang of thugs
stormed the Capital and disrupted the proceedings
causing lawmakers to be evacuated.

Here is Joe Biden's live response to the assault.

and here is trump's incredibly lame taped response to the assault.

No burning police cars, no looted and destroyed police station, no looted Starbucks..... still more peaceful than your average BLM/Antifa rally.

J. you have got to be fucking kidding me. Storming the capital after being incited to do so by a sitting president is 1,000 times worse.

Truly a disgraceful day in our history. I am only surprised that security at the Capitol was an absolute joke. The doors should be sealed until the election is officially recognized. Then Trump should be arrested and marched off to jail.
On the bright side...Georgia went blue and we may have a small chance of restoring Democracy. But I fear this sh*tshow is far from over.

John I agree with you

"No burning police cars" - well that's a nice yardstick with which to measure violence, eh? "J", if you don't get that storming a Target is not the same as invading the U.S. Capitol, nothing will convince you that last night was the true end of the Trump presidency. For that, at least, we can be grateful.

What happened yesterday at the capitol was sad and shameful. Unfortunately this is what happens when good people feel like they are being ignored and dismissed. Its one of the reasons for the riots this summer to, people felt like they weren't being listened to by our so called leaders. Its sad that Americans can't come together over the question of election integrity. Thats all people wanted was a transparent audit of the election and they couldn't even get that. Any election fraud claims should be looked at accordingly. Its essential people believe in our election process.

They were looked at by each state. Georgia counted three times. I'm not trying to be a jerk here, beside printing up 11780 new trump ballots, what more do you want? Honestly, I'm all for a fair, transparent, secure election. But specifically, what else do you want?

Give it up Unknown... What happened at the Capitol yesterday was violence incited by a sitting president that has lost all touch with reality. Despite trump's non stop claims that the election was stolen from him, there has been absolutely no evidence of fraud. They were not good people that were ignored and dismissed. They were deranged assholes that believe in the ridiculous conspiracy theories that trump continues to promote.

Trump cares for no one. He gets his thrill from manipulating, bullying and threatening people to do what he thinks is right.. and sometimes what he knows isn't right but just likes to see how far he can push it. When this is all over he will personally gloat about how he manipulated millions of people and was such a great president and yaddi yaddi yaddi. Trump bullshit aside.
Our constitutional system worked exactly as it was intended to. The constition contains checks and balances. Check- Some Electorial votes were challenged, debated, and voted by the Blue House and the Red Senate. Balance- an overwhelming number voted neah. The system worked. States ratified the votes. Check- They could have stopped it. Balance- they didn't. 60 law suites were filed. Check- The courts could have intervened. Balance-They didn't. How many bi-partisan stop gates need to hurdled until all the Trump supporters finally realize that Trump is not wanted by the MAJORITY of the people. Democrats, Non-partisons and Republicans alike. Everyone is starting to realize he is a cancer that will spread and destroy our democracy. 4 more years and there won't be a United States of America. And he won't care. He'll still claim "No president ever did more for our great country"... even if it was to destroy it.

Jesus, folks. I have no shame in telling you I'm about to fucking cry. He was the greatest President this country's ever known. All he ever did was try to give us his best.

The issues are at the state level. The Congress did what it was supposed to do... Stay out of the states business. Objections were heard, debated, voted on and rejected.
If there are voting issues at the stateless then let them be resolved them at the state level. Its not congresses job to police the states.

There are definitely issues that need to be dealt with somehow. Somebody's always going to try and cheat its unfortunately a problem for both sides. And I'm not the unknown from the other comment just not sure how to change my name on here, lol

JudithK said...

Sounds to me like Unknown is a troll. Knows how to type, can pass the CAPTCHA, but doesn't know how to change his name?? Give me a break.

JudithK said...

Of course, I don't know which Unknown I described as a possible troll. There can be many Unknowns. Like Rumsfeld said: "As we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know."

JudithK said...

Or I might be considering the wrong Unknown. As Rumsfeld said: As we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know."

JudithK said...

Or, I could stupidly post twice.

Aeg said...

Agreed. Troll. A true Trump loyalist wouldn't cry.

Brian said...

Good God, a troll? Don't even know what CAPTCHA is and I'm certainly not crying or stupid. I was talking about election integrity not one man. This is more important than one man.

Brian said...

If you don't think there was election fraud in this election or for that matter ALL elections then maybe your the stupid one. I'm not a Trumper or a biden fan, I'm a constitutionality. The constitution matters far more than any politician or party.
