No Monday?

Hmmmmm....for some reason, the day slipped away and there was no time for a Monday blog post.  Recap: a morning tour, a quick Alpine run, and the usual great 241 night at the Starlight - and dessert at Cinta's beautiful home with some really great friends.  Woke this morning to the sound of burros fighting outside my door.  Benita was standing by looking perplexed at all the commotion.  Fed everyone and all was well.

Got the motors I ordered to experiment with for the new camera panning mechanism.  Did a water run to the Ghost Town just in case tonight's storm gets sucked into the vortex.  All set to go with indoor projects in case of a downpour.  Expecting at least some rain tonight and the winds are already picking up.  Rather difficult to sleep with a windy overnight.

Stopped by to check out the old church in the Ghost Town for the first time with my upstate NY friend Kristinna.

I didn't see a church when I was at the ghost town. Where is it located? Is it near the cemetary?

That old picture is really neat!!

DD....the old church is up the hill behind the Starlight Theatre. Say Hi to my Texas mom!

Do keep us posted on the camera panning mechanism. This is something I'm interested in and if you get a good working model built up then I'd like to get your designs to possibly make one of my own.

Glad you're doing o.k., I figured you took a day off and "played hooky" from the blog. Sounds like you had a great Monday.

Miss Field Lab:

"Mama? What's wrong with those candles? Are they sad?"

Looks like it might get a tad warm in there. Either that or those are penitent candles.

John, what a good post about the old church. Like Dizzy Dick, I have never seen the church on my many visits to Terlingua. Will have to check it out next time, and burn a candle or leave an offering. The old photo is very interesting, and the candle photo is great. I picked up a great book from Front Street Books in Marathon a couple years ago, on the history of Terlingua. It's called "Quicksilver: Terlingua and the Chisos Mining Company" by Kenneth Baxter Ragsdale. Fascinating History...

Your Monday nights in the Ghost Town sound like a lot of fun. Terlingua people are so interesting!
