lighting test...

Did a lighting test today for the payphone...96 solar powered LED's.  Not quite bright enough for me.  I have enough to double it so I think I can set up the permanent installation tomorrow.  Will make a nice lighted marker for when I come home after dark.  96,103,71,0,B

I can see it on the news now....
"It was night. I was walking through the desert, lost, out of water and figured to be dead by the next morning and then I see this pay phone off in the distance, all lit up."

Ted,
The internet used out there is DSL which requires a twisted pair phone line to work. Kind of a chicken or egg dilemma.

So cool. Is that just a homemade block of light using styrofoam and solar LEDs?
Really like what you're doing out there, thanks for all the good posts!

I don't know if you know of the Mojave Phone Booth, but I love the solar lighting touch.

I agree with tffnguy, in this case maybe less is more.
Still pretty damn cool though.

I'd rig some sort of remote switch to turn off the light when you are home to conserve battery life. You could also have it flash with incoming calls.

I can't answer for JW on why a pay phone but if I lived out there I would have a pay phone just so people would ask, "why a pay phone?"
