You should ask your MD for opportunity to shoot some pics of their films on your first office visit, it would be a real contribution to your collection.
My sympathies for all the down-time you are gonna accumulate with this upset.

Maybe once you're home you can have a "Q&A" session about is experience. I hope you'll be safe and comfortable back at TFL. I can only imagine how happy Ben and Bud, the chicks and all the other critters will be to see you, and you them.

Won't going through airport security be different now? Sorry 😰 cactus Jim, yes we all have a few lose screws now and then. :-) Thanks for the post John. I hope your trip home will be o.k. Animals are like doctors from outer space. They can sniff out your problems immediately. Even a dog from the pound can put their nose on a surgery I had 30 years ago or a pain I have today.

John; It's good to see your situation is improving. Do those parts come with a warranty?

John, that's not cool. You'll be down for a bit.

Plan?

I hope they put some lock tight on those screws. I would hate to see them back out!
Prayers are still coming your way.

Thank God for the wonderful doctors - we have these days! Had this happened back during Civil War days - I suspect the Doctors would nave just sawed that leg off - and hoped the infection did not kill you! Now they simply put you back together with those stainless steel screws. Take it easy though - those screws just hold you together - until the bones grow back together!

John - that looks hectic. Back when I was 11 (many, many years ago) I broke my hip within the ball and socket joint. It could only be mended with the assistance of 3 X titanium pins, which were removed 10 years later as I was experiencing some discomfort. I still have the "trophies" :).

The worst part is going to be allowing it to heal properly over the recommended 3 - 4 months without putting too much / any strain on it. Not going to be easy - perhaps you'll have to view it as a test of your patience...

Feel better. Your in my thoughts and prayers.

You know Ronald that is a thought about the Civil War. I bet that is right. And if there is another surgery needed, I would get it done before too much age sets in. (Well that crooked auto insurance co. reversed my money- happy holidays to me).

I was thinking, I hope you don't have emergency bathroom calls. It might be good to have a bucket by your bed.

I just payed around $3,400 for my health care on the Obama plan for next year. I was allowed to keep my old plan which is the best which they no longer have. I'm glad I have it. Now I can go see the physicians assistant (and the doctor sometime). Recently we lost a friend around 50 yrs. who had no health care and they just put him in a room where he died. His brother said to pull the plug.

If you fly..carry that film with you. I know a guy, half his back is metal, saves a lot of time . I wouldn't let the Doc put the erector set in my leg. Knew too many guys had to go back down the road and have something removed.I paid the price of 7 months in a full cast and then was feeling frisky and managed to get a hairline. Added 2 more months in a knee cast with that stunt. It ain't pretty and straight like your leg, but it works. Too bad you don't have a clutch in that Tundra.Saved myself 180 a week in therapy pumping the clutch ( redneck engineering ) in my 83 Toyota.BTW, I was driving that truck with one leg ,sort of like folks I see out here texting and driving.

John, yes, expect some "blues" and get a plan ready for stuff to do while you heal. Reading and computer time are obvious choices, but...can I suggest learning to knit? Seriously! I learned last year and it's easy and fun as hell.

Oh yes, pamit, some veteran men knit. At one point I was knitting a scarf but it turned out to be a shawl.

Glad to see you're back. I wouldn't worry too much about the new bits causing problems at the airport. I had a compound tib/fib fracture on my left leg back in 1996 thanks to a Suburban that didn't think a stop sign applied to him and an early 80's Yamaha motorcycle with drum brakes that wasn't able to stop in the 10 feet available despite me only doing 20mph. To make things worse my leg got smashed between the tank of my bike and the drivers door of the suburban (luckily I tried to jump clear which saved my knee) so my Tibia was smashed into more pieces than the doc could count. I was stuck with an external fixator for 6 months then 2 months in a soft cast before there was enough bone to bolt back together and they still needed to add more (I opted for an experimental coral based material instead of a graft from my hips - which ended up working great thankfully.)

Almost 20 years on now and I haven't once had a problem with metal detectors at courthouses, amusement parks, airports or stadiums thanks to the hardware still in my leg. I do however know when the weather is going to change before the weatherman ;)

Just watch out for the pain killers, that was the worst part of it for me. Just a few weeks in I stopped taking them as I found they didn't really stop the pain - they just stopped me from caring about being in pain, made me stupid and tore up my digestive system. I only took them just before PT and only then because my PT was a hot blonde which gave me motivation to go above and beyond what she expected of me :D
