finally confident

Been almost 4 months since the last check in with my surgeon.  He was pleased to report no hardware movement.  Although I still use one crutch for most of my walking, I have been going crutchless on occasion the past month.  Dr. Merkle told me to keep pushing myself and to get past the psychological barrier in trusting the bones - they are fully healed.  For the first time through this whole ordeal I'm finally confident there will be no further problems with my leg.  62,76,40,0,C

It sounds like you have a good doctor. I'm sure you feel encouraged to get up and go as much as possible now. It will take time for your muscle strength to return, but the body is amazingly resilient. I'm so glad to hear the good report.

Allahu Akbar!

Lol.

It's nice that on the internet there is utube so we can learn how to correctly pronounce Allahu Akbar. Then my acquaintances could not understand me. Some still look at me strangely when I say ear-ran and not I-ran (Iran).

I can understand your reluctance of trust and hesitation. After my accident in December I am constantly having to assert mind over muscle. The bones are healed, the muscles are atrophied & I make myself continue to snake fingers to reach out, grasp car doors to yank, oh I did used WD-40 the other day...on the door, not me. Continuing to get the arm above my shoulder to reach, pony tail my hair. Yep it hurts & if you are around I still vocally Yelp (not too loud),. Just think your way through what you want to achieve. Lord knows I've been fortunate.

I would venture to say that your belief in God has certainly helped you through this ordeal and that your faith has had a major role in healing. Good for you, John.

Congratulations John, That good report does sound encouraging! The knowledge of healing with everything in place has got to be such good news for you.

Sorry from last nit . It's ear Ron (Iran). Forgot to post that.

Well, don't ever overdo with that leg - just out of caution.

Margery Billd said...

Just normal stuff and soon without assistance - hopefully. Keep going and play it by ear each day.

Well Larry reminded me. I had a broken elbow years ago. First Dr. Said no. Later 2nd Dr. Said yes it was broken after it was healed. Went to therapy and pushed myself at home with lifting and stretching - exercises shown to me. Yes it hurt with weights and so forth (could not straighten arm). Dr. Said I would be a cripple. But no. After a few weeks of guided therapy, I was back to normal and never had a problem or pain (maybe an ache in rain in the beginning) in 31 years. Can't you get some physical therapy exercises to strengthen leg.

Great news! Any unwanted guests lurking about during the night?

I have seen many things but still have my head in what nature provides. But this was a not so nature issue.
