Palo verde blooming. I started this tree from seed almost 6 years ago to the day. http://thefieldlab.blogspot.com/2011/04/talcum-powder-road.html
It is 6 ft. tall now and finally busting out some flowers. I shot this time lapse over 10 hours and the blossom finally fully opened just as the sun set. The rig in the thumbnail picture was in place to hold the branch steady in the wind - luckily it was pretty calm throughout the day. "A Moment's Peace Duet" by Darcy Hill. Very nice time lapse.
Beautiful. No blooms up here in the cool, blue north yet. We're just beginning to get buds. Our robins and red wing black birds are returning. Canada geese are claiming their territory. Come on Spring!
the bees are probably enjoying the blooms (thought I saw a couple) -
the "A Moment's Peace Duet" lived up
to its title and did provide a moment of peace - nicely done.
Sam Finn - be glad you did not get a false Spring - followed by a hard freeze - like we did in North Alabama. This damaged most of the flower buds on our pear & peach trees, and azalea plants. But the fig trees will have their fruit as normal.
Ronald Mahan - We've had that happen up here before too. Not unusual for us to get a frost as late as the first week of June.

I had just read about your travels to see Aunt Jean and the rest of the family a few days ago, loved the picture of you two...was wondering about her and then read this, followed the link, and checked out amazon description of her book. EARLIER tonight, I was wondering about the four pallet constructions I see from google earth...NOW I know what they are. I have kept transplants of cactii and catnip(it seeds) alive since my mom died 5 years ago. We were the only ones in the family that like cactii. Memories...
