I have been following up on DNA tests of listed relatives. - and having nightmares. But today and yesterday I confirmed DNA family relations. I found an old friend who is a 2nd cousin on my mothers fathers grandparents and great grandparents side. Yesterday it was 2nd and 3rd cousins on my mothers mothers mothers side. Yes, we are all actually related confirmed by DNA according to the book. :-)

Just noticed that Google Earth has a new sky view of TFL. The landing strip looks nice. Could be my imagination but looks like I can see Benny and Piggy out in front of the barn.

John, Were you a boy scout? "Be Prepared" is the motto.
Just curious. How you heat the hungry man meals?
How many hours per day do you run your freezer? Wattage?

I was a boy scout for about a year but never made it past Tenderfoot - too much pressure. Being prepared is just a smart way to live - especially out here. Until I get my solar oven up and running again, I do most of my cooking in my gas grill. I run the chest freezer 3-4 hours a day. On start up it draws about 850 watts briefly but cruises along at less than 100. FYI - a scout is also trustworthy loyal helpful friendly courteous kind obedient cheerful thrifty brave clean and reverent.

Lol. Really? I forgot some of those things. I remember the word Tenderfoot. I represented the Girl Scouts from the United States to an International Centennial Worldwide Girl Scout Convention in the Philippines. My picture was chosen to be on both covers of the magazine filed at headquarters. A celebrity. :-)

(I was chosen along with 12 other girls in the U.S. Because I was a high ranking Scout). There were 23 countries represented at the 2 week event outside of Manilla in January 1957.

"To serve God and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law. The Promise is often recited at Girl Scout troop meetings while holding up the three middle fingers of the right hand, which forms the Girl Scout sign."… less complicated than the lads.

OMG remmij, I see I have to be truthful because I am doublechecked. :-) TY for all the info. Yes, I do remember taking the pledge many times. :-) Yes, I was 17 at the time and then by the time I got home I was 18. I have pictures with President Magsaysay of the Philippines in the Malacana Palace. (I interviewed him for a newspaper. He was very kind to my two Scout friends and myself). (Actually all my pictures are at the home of one of my sons and the rest that I did not take with me when my mother wanted me to were stolen from my parents home by a lawyer. Anything I left with them was stolen over the years). I am 78.

You have had a very busy and fascinating life Margery.

not really double checking you Margery, but you reference some pretty
interesting tales & I sometimes like to know a bit more detail… other times
i'm good with the mystery…
Happy belated birthday — you do add some spice to the comments,
although I'm not always sure what spice it is -
& you keep Mr. W. on his toes. ;-]
btw, if you are flying United anytime soon, be sure to hold out for at least $1,300 -
otherwise, not worth deploying the Girl Guide choke hold & lawsuits take forever.
Fly (PanAm or TWA?) or steam to the Philippines?
