Hey John, I've been faithfully following your adventures ever since your blog was first pick up by the site" boing boing". I've only posted a handful of times over the years, but wanted to say that you've been a part of my life this whole time. I've watched you reveal the plans for the green house, followed along as it was built and felt every high and low you posted about "farming". Thank you for sharing part of your life.... it has offered me inspiration (like when Ben became part of the homestead), but also entertainment (remember the field lab lake?). Thank you for your bravery and candidness.

That looks like a peaceful spot to stay for a week. And again, I'm thinking: miracles do happen. My brother is about to start chemotherapy and is then facing an operation. I feel like I have two brothers going through a hard patch!

John, I have been following you since at least 2011 when Texas Country Reporter ran a tv episode about an off grid guy who wrote “The West is the Best” in the middle of a West Texas desert with only rainwater collection and Harbor Freight solar early on. You had the internet on a twisted pair telephone line run over the tundra. With a Toyota version as your trust steed. It was only DSL internet but your daily blog and weather report was always new and interesting. The solar oven, early wind generators and 128 sq ft living accomodations! The site built evaporative cooler ran on batteries and computer fans. Later the amazing container greenhouse with a huge rebar roof, all carefully welded by you and you alone. All documented in the blog. All of this was just the beginning! Off the grid living but always adventurous including powered hang gliding! Very cool my man.
