tow job...

Was just about ready to prep the forms for the next pour...when a couple of guys came walking up to the house.  They got their truck stuck in the sand SW of me down by Terlingua Creek.  This is a contractor that was checking out a small cabin that he has been hired to move.  Exploring the area in the outback turned out to be a bad idea.  They had to walk 3.5 miles to get to TFL.  Some cable and a comealong and they were free to go.

Roasted a chicken in the solar oven for 5 1/2 hours today.  It just finished cooking when a dust storm hit.  Seems we are in for a gusty night and a bit of a cold front rolling in.  Explorers rescued, a hot chicken, Mr. Buddy Heater, and a trial subscription to Amazon Prime (free shipping on orders and plenty of downloadable entertainment) - I'm ready to hunker down for the night.  64,88,44,0,W

That's a purty chicken! I can almost smell it over here in the Houston area!

I may have missed it, but what is the plan for the inside? Are you leaving a dirt floor in the center?

Wet the sand before you dig into deep and generally you can drive right out.
I'm sure he creek was dry and they had no bucket so probably wouldn't have helped much.
Now if hey has drank a lot of beer....that might have worked. Good excuse to drink beer, might get stuck in sand and no water near by.

Hi John
Saw that the temps are really taking a dip. I was working a my place a couple of weeks ago and had to return to Austin in a hurry. I left a 5 gal bucket of paint sitting on the roof and Barb said we had to go back quick to move it inside to avoid freezing. Glad we went back because it was 26 two nights already and this weekend it may get cold.
