SOLD

Been posting my 18' trailer for sale on Facebook the past couple of weeks and nobody responded.  Made some old school flyers late last week and tacked them up at the post office and the Motor Inn CafĂ©.  At the last minute, I decided to also put one in the laundromat as well.  Got a call from someone in the laundromat on Sunday afternoon and they came out and bought the trailer yesterday.  77,82,73,0,W

bearing false witness...

So I am torn today...  I noticed this morning that my YouTube channel was suddenly getting a lot of new subscribers.  It wasn't until this afternoon that I learned why.  One of my "Facebook friends" notified me she saw my video "the birthday brushing" on a wackjob conspiracy website she subscribes to.   I went to their YouTube channel and there was my video with over 4,000 views and over 100 comments so far today.  I also noticed that while they had given me credit for the video, they had monetized the views it gets for their channel.  Their wackjob conspiracy site has almost 400,000 subscribers (there are A LOT of conspiracy nuts out there).  I sent them a message that while I appreciated the share - I did not appreciate the fact that they did not contact me first and that they were getting income from views of my video on their channel.  So here is the dilemma.  Do I allow them to make money off my video in return for more subscribers?  The problem is - wackjobs are not really my target audience and most of their channel content is complete bullshit conspiracy nonsense.  What I decided to do was notify them that they are welcome to share my video, but they have to remove monetization.  If I don't get a response within 24 hours, I will file a copyright infringement notification with YouTube to have it removed from their channel.

a little melting...

It has been awhile since I have melted down any sterling silver.  Just got a local gig to turn five pieces of sterling silver flatware into seven 1 ounce ingots.  Will have to mill a few new graphite molds for the effort.  Video coming Friday.  94,100,75,0,B

perfectly seasoned...

Mark 9:49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.  50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it?  Have salt in yourselves, and have peace on with another.

a day in the archives

Finally came across the illusive VHS tape that had everything I was looking for.  This is a still from a film I shot in Russia in 1988.  Got plenty of throwback thursdays coming up on my YouTube channel.  96,102,74,0,B

archive access...

Finally got my hands on a good VCR so I can start posting some of my old video work from my NYC days.  Bought a little video converter years ago and luckily I was able to find it and successfully fire it up.  I was pleasantly surprised that 30+ year old VHS tapes still play.  Tune in tomorrow for throwback thursday.  97,102,77,0,B

Done with Hankook tires...

Just over a year ago I bought 4 new tires for my truck.  Since then I have had a flat on every one of them - the latest happening on Sunday.  I recently replaced two of them and had yet another flat on one of the brand new tires - for which I got a free replacement.  I am switching out all of the Hankooks this week with Cooper Discoverer AT3 LTs.  The are load rated E1 which is comparable to what used to be known as 10 ply (FYI - tires no longer have that many actual plies) and have a light truck rating which is a beefier tire than Ron Mahan's beloved standard load highway Michelin LTX M/S.  The two newest Hankooks will become my two new spare tires - one of my spares is 2 years old and the other is 6 years old.  I ordered the Coopers through Oasis Tire in Alpine because their price including mounting and balancing is only 10 bucks more than the online price (plus I still get a $70 rebate from Cooper).  If I bought them online, Oasis would charge me $25 each for mounting and balancing.  91,96,74,0,B

watch and pray

We are all prisoners of earthly desire...
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray,
that ye enter not into temptation:
the spirit indeed is willing,
  but the flesh is weak.

the watershed...

Big storm just grazed TFL with .03" of rain but it hammered the watershed area east of me - white water rapids flowing through my canyon now.  I have a feeling the part of my road closer to the highway is in pretty bad condition.  Drone road check in the morning.  Good news is no more rain in the forecast for the next 10 days.   71,88,69, .03",B

Don't be a lost sheep...

Psalms 119  173 Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.  174 I have longed for thy salvation, O Lord; and thy law is my delight.  175 Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.  176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

jinxed it...

It has been almost a year since I have had enough rain at once to suck water out of the arroyo.  Prepped to pump this afternoon but the storm pooped out.  67,88,71, .15",B

Happy Fourth Of July

FYI - you are welcome on our shores if you come here legally.  It should be noted that you will have a much more difficult time if you sneak across the border.   It is certainly sad that your country sucks so bad that you feel a need to escape but you need to be aware that there are A LOT of people wanting to come here from countries that suck so you will just have to wait your turn in line.  Many of those entering the US don't have a legitimate asylum claim and many of them are outright criminals so you can blame them for the heightened security measures at our border.  It also helps if you have some money (hint - don't spend thousands on someone to smuggle you into the country).  By being allowed to become legal citizens here it is imperative that you become a contributing member of society so the tax payers won't have to support you in your new life in America.  It is also greatly appreciated if you bother to learn our local language.  92,99,76,0,B

the road paved with good intentions...

Since I have been out here, the county has resurfaced HWY 118 three times.  It seems to happen every four years.  I avoided going to Alpine until they finished this time since I got some cracks in my windshield from flying rocks last time when I made the trip while they were working on it.  A different contractor did this resurfacing and they did a really good job and finished the 60 mile stretch from just north of the ranch road all the way to Alpine in about a week.  91,101,71,0,B
