The Whole Armor of God...

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints - 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

The irony of it all...

I wonder how many of my blog readers have noticed that new badge on my opening page.  I was notified on Monday that my YouTube channel was added to a list of the top 20 Sustainable Living YouTubers by Feedspot.  Pretty ironic considering that one of the main things I have learned after 11 years of The Field Lab experiment, it that it is virtually impossible for one person to live a completely sustainable life out here (or just about anywhere else) - especially if you are a meat eater.  I suppose if I was a hardcore vegan - I might be able to make a go of it...but it is doubtful (and incredibly boring).  I pretty much have figured out that true sustainable living is just a myth.  There are lots of internet sources that promote it...but they always leave out things like gasoline for your vehicle, building materials and hardware, taxes, insurance, ect.  Sure I have long had all my water and electricity needs taken care of - but food is a whole other story.  One of the main reasons I haven't been growing anything in the greenhouse is because the amount of calories and nutritional value produced vs. the expense, time, and effort (and my precious rainwater) doesn't make it worthwhile - plus, I suck when it comes to farming.  From time to time I have been asked..."in all my years of living out here what have I found to be the most efficient means of sustaining myself?"  My answer....Amazon Prime.  80,90,52, .14",B

day off

No heavy lifting today...since I handled over 5,000 lbs of material yesterday.  Spent all day assembling clock #2.  This one is turning out to be much more temperamental than the Chupa clock and will take a lot more work to get it running smoothly.  77,80,50,0,B

and not unto men

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

pour test...

Did a little pour test yesterday with one bag of quickcrete to see how well the new gennie and mixer worked...and to see if I have enough concrete to do the whole pour.  Gennie and mixer worked fine.  Was hoping one bag would fill 1.5 blocks plus 3 inches above to fill the forms.  Came up a little short so I ordered 30 more bags yesterday afternoon and they were delivered this morning.  Now I am sure all is good to go for pour day next Monday.  73,75,39,0,B

Let no man despise thee...

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

another day...

New (lighter) generator for the jobsite arrived today.  Got a wild hair and picked up a couple of tomato plants for the greenhouse-turned-junkyard last trip to Alpine.  It has been a number of years since I cultivated aphids, whiteflies, and hornworms... 59,78,71,0,W

Taste and See

Psalms 34: 1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Zach!

Had some Field Lab visitors today...Drew, Sara, and 4 year old Zach.  Zach became quite interested in stacking up my cinder block cut pieces.  I think this kid has a future in construction...  75,83,45,0,B

Precision

Finished and tested the actuator mechanism for the clock.  Amazing how well things fit together when they are modeled in software at .1mm tolerance.  Also got the sound module today for playback of Chupa crowing for the clock alarm.  Micro switches coming Friday.  42,50,31,0,B

Eyewitnesses

2 Peter 1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. 13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

more clockwork

Ran a test overnight with the Chupa Clock. Over the course of 8 hours, it was only 2 minutes fast. Funny thing is - it woke me up at 5:07 AM when it stopped ticking as the counter weight reached the floor. I suddenly came up with the brilliant idea to add a settable alarm feature to the clock using a sound module with a recording of Chupa crowing (parts ordered). I miss hearing him crow in the morning.  Since I was up early, I printed a new part to make rewinding easier and few other cosmetic enhancements.  Video when it's completed.  78,88,48.0.B
