the underworld

Took up the pavers on the north side.  I think the damage has been done by a combination of critters...mice, bugs, lizards - and just natural settling.  This entire area once had a one inch layer of sand on top.  Planning on wetting this down and packing it hard before adding sand again - with some diatomaceous earth mixed in with the sand and hardware cloth around the edges to keep it from shifting again.  72,84,63,0,B,0

Looks like some good food stores they had for themselves under there! You're going to need to get a barn cat if you ever want to find relief from those mice though. Way too much for them to eat in that greenhouse and you'll never kill them all with poison or traps.

Our cats have been a great investment and if brought in while young and well fed they won't bother your chickens.

john consider putting them back with a little paver set sweep into the cracks and around the edges. You spray it and it hardens. Prevents shifting. paver set

John when laying a brick side walk I found that tar paper was a good thing to lay on the ground and put a sand leveling fill on top .to grout the joint I mixed 4 to 1 scoops of sand cement and broom sweep it in the joints put a board across the pavers and hammered on the board to settle the grout into the joint Then just misted . just (damp) the pavers and covered it over night.
