When I installed my trailer brake controller I watched a youtube video and it was pretty easy to do.
I have had the best luck with Bulldog jacks and couplers.
Looks like someone drove off without raising the jack all the way. Not sure you really need the breakaway and brake controllers in normal use.
I second the Bulldog swing up jack. Vote yes on break controller. Things can go wrong, believe me!!

Reckon it was just luck it wasn't Bad Bob, not to be confused with Dirty Bad Bob but the the original Texas Bad Bob...
