Six days, six long days from today and my wife and I will be immersed again in the splendor that is God's creation we call the Chihuahuan Desert. Not a moment too soon, my soul needs a recharge.

I found myself looking hard at tree branches this past weekend. We finally have sunny days and warm temps here in houston and i'm looking for signs of spring.

Spring comes early to the south.

One year we (USCG)were doing a Great Lakes survey from a helicopter, there was place on the western shore of Lake Michigan, up in Wisconsin where you could 'see' spring.

Spring was a band on the earth running to the west. Green to the south, it turned brown then white & ran as far as you could see.

I've always liked spring, it's good to see it's started!

Keep an eye on that Fig, it looks like it has a few small web-like threads on it. Not sure if that's an aborted spiders web or something left by a type of bug that's lurking, waiting to suck the life out of your tree once it starts it's spring growth.

So nice to see buds of early spring. Red birds stay the winter, blue birds come a couple of weeks before spring, yesterday I found a robin looking a lot worse for wear getting here with 2 feet of snow, rain sleet that came later in the day. Crows are hovering close by in the trees looking to eat anything. One of the neighbors has bread for them. Squirrels have been popping out of their high nest burrowing for buried treasures.

Here in CO the cottonwood and aspen buds are swelling. I'm trying to force some gambel's oak branches inside.
