Glad to see them come back. I am surprised the pineapple made it. For three years in a row I have planted tops, ratoons and one damaged mother plant. None have survived winter. I hope your results are typical for out there.

A Lavender Bush might grow very well there. They grow very well in the Hill Country and Blanco, Texas. But my dogs in the past dug up my lavender. They smell so good, are pretty and have many uses. There are fields of Lavender near Blanco. Lavender was brought over from France.

Rosemary herb grows very here (like a miniature pine tree) and grows and grows and grows. It is deer resistant and has a certain scent. (I know when my dogs have been around the Rosemary. They smell good.)

I agree with Margery Bills, the lavender is nice. Provence is famous for it.

As for Rosemary, it is very hardy. Our herb boxes have other things in them that will wilt first. We use it fresh to cook and can. Rosemary chicken is even better with just picked, fresh rosemary.

Keep up the good works John.

My loving wife must have read my comment on your blog, we had rosemary chicken for supper last night.

I was working in the garden this morning and found a last-years-planting grape vine I had given up on. I had trimmed it back to the live part when I trimmed the other vines early this year. I was about to pull it this morning thinking it was dead and found it has a bud of life peeking up from the soil line. Good news indeed.
