fear?

I recently got this in a daily devotional that I subscribe to.  I think this was an odd combination to include together.  I am not a big fan of fear scriptures...

Being in no way an expert on the Bible, I feel there are many verses that some find to be contradictory.

I have always wondered if it was fear used as in respect and knowing the power of an almighty God our modern language has changed to where fear is that of oppression for instance when we were growing up we feared in doing wrong against our parents for the consequences yet we loved them it wasn't tyrannical it was loving . Just my take on it

I clearly recall someone from a pulpit saying that in fact yes, in that context the word meant to revere, respect. No authority here, just a memory.
