This is the small house I have designed for a friend out here. Construction will begin in January. I used free software called Sketchup. This enables me to have precise measurements for every piece of lumber for the project. Really like this little house. Since you know the exact dimensions for your lumber will have them cut at the store? Here at Home Depot they cut for you for free. But I don't know they'd cut a whole house.?
what about insulation? you're well versed in the climate. Will they be comfortable? Is it off the grid also? That seems like the biggest factor towards living out there.
No...the lumber yard will not make 100's of cuts for me nor would I trust them to get it right. The house will be insulated and is definitely off grid. This is not going to be a full time residence.
sketchUp alts… flogging a deceased equine (and rhubarb/peach pie)… if it was entirely up to you,
would you still opt for underground?
Roofing material?

construction budget estimate? - all said & done, with any necessary hookups & sanitation…
site prep, first water delivery/tank.misc., etc.… under 12k?
if it isn't confidential… I was guessing ~ $22/sq ft.…
Can hardly wait. How will it line up N.,E.,S.,W. for the breezes and sun and moon and views? Looks like roof will have good water catchment. Looks like good cross ventilation with the windows and doors. Which way will the solid wall be facing? Nice design.
