Fired up the welder today and got the frame together - working my way toward the bike. Had to work two shifts today - early morning and late afternoon. I really enjoy welding again but it is not very fun when it's 102 degrees outside. Have to transition the drive 90 degrees so I am at the half way point as of this evening. A few more details to iron out, some spots to weld, and I should be good to go for the first load by this weekend. 90,102,68,0,C

HP in Real Life
The Field Lab story at HP finally popped up today. http://www.hp.com/united-states/reallife/solar.html I must say that I am quite pleased with the press. Special thanks to my new buddy Kristina Sager (nice shirt!) who was the story coordinator for the piece. Benita sends out a moo to her new canine buddy Wisco. Greetings to those who find their way to my blog from the HP site.

Hello Mr. Wells aka Sir Lingua!
The videos were GREAT ... we loved 'em :)
Hey John
Great piece by HP. You have hit the big time ... again! The only thing I could have added to the piece, is that you did it YOUR WAY! and ALL by your self.
Benita gave you moral support. I will rate the article and the subject with five Moos!
Keep up the great work!
Now get busy! :-)
The 90 degree transition is a bitch, but it will work, although the gyro might complain, the clean clothes will not:)
HP is lucky to have found you!
I do hope you got amble compensation for that HP spot!! btw, my latest laptop is the HP G71.
Wow! I'm looking forward to seeing that washing machine working.
John...great video's on the HP website...were all the videos and pictures yours?
Nice videos John, Congratulations! Sue and I spent the summer this year in Colorado at 10,300 ft. Some different from Terlingua.(snow on June 13th, 23 degrees the last week in August) We were off the grid with solar and our 1000 watt Honda generator in our little 25 ft. RV. (We also had propane) In case your racking your brain, Sue worked at the Motel desk in Study Butte and worked at Big Bend) I still can taste your beer bread...
Loved the HP piece. Perhaps they could help sponsor with gear? Though maybe you don't want any "strings". I really like the washer though my wife says for me not to get any ideas. ;^)
That Wisco is one handsome Lab. Lucky too.
My first pc in 1983 was an HP...ran on windows 3.1, had a 40 meg hard drive, ran at 8mhz and had a turbo button to send it soaring to 12mhz. :o) I've been an HP owner ever since.
Nice article, congrats JW.
Great to see the washer coming together.
You are a chick magnet!
