TFL 2.0

The big chill finally broke today.  68 hours of below freezing temperatures.  Thermometer on the solar shower said 29º2" of ice in the house water tank and water frozen solid in Benita's water bowl and a bucket.  All my systems remained intact - no leaks, no power outages, plenty of heat.  That's the nice thing about a bad weather event - there is usually more than enough warning to be prepared.  Very empowering to not have to rely on outside assistance and be able to come to the aid of a neighbor who is not so diligent.  Looking forward to much higher temperatures.  32,42,2,0,B

It was 2 degrees down by Sawmill mountain too. My neighbors have lived here for 15 years and never seen it this cold!

According to online it was 4, but of course that was online. Too damn cold what ever it was and I understand more cold is coming.

John

Just watched a Discovery programme on Laki in Iceland.

In 1783 Laki (a fissure volcano)erupted, causing a sulphur cloud over most of Europe and the UK. The following three winter seasons were noticably colder than prviously, due to the sulphur in the atmosphere.

Having just had Eyjafjallajökull volcano (again in Iceland) erupt in 2010 probably explains your below average temperatures - as well as those which have happened in Europe / UK in the past two months?

That and global warming...

I, too, believe that preparing for the worst leaves one better able to cope, if, and when...

Dani, if that is the cause maybe we will have a mild summer. Might be worth all the cold IF we survive it.
