Grey Friday...
Celebrated Black Friday by not spending any money. Will continue the celebration by spending money tomorrow at the Alpine Farmers Market. Cloudy day all day and some light drizzle on'n'off. Set forms and poured a transition step on the east end of the courtyard. Had a nice break of sun at the end of the day and a hot shower. 58,63,46, .02",B

Seems to me if someone was going to the Farmers market and they had a blog they would take some pics of the produce, meats, etc and prices of the fore mentioned but nooooo.

I'll fess up to buying a bottle of Brandy. And I tried to buy a nice old Winchester 30-30 that has never been fired from a friend but he won't sell it to me.
Since it is slow, could someone explain the politics of the ranch to me? I keep reading about holding back fees, that someone plans to turn it into a gaint hunting lease. I guess I am just confused.
From what I can ascertain there are a whole lot of people not paying POA dues either because they have some sweet heart deal or are protesting the POA. Some owners have never paid dues since back when the sales first began in the seventies.
I spoke with a realtor and she assured me everything was ok that there were just some trouble makers. I pressed her for actual, factual information and she didn't want to discuss it anymore.
I can see one or two trouble makers but not 30 to 40 percent of the owners.
Thanks man, just purchased down there. Looking for a place to get away from this kinda crap.
It is closer to 45 percent of owners delinquent on dues according to this report.
Delinquent Accounts
As of August 2011 there were approximately 1,987 accounts that were listed as being delinquent out of a total of approximately 4,965 active accounts. Considering that there are about 615 accounts that are exempt, there were about 4350 non exempt accounts. Currently the 1,987 delinquent accounts owe POATRI $2,236,660. While the delinquent accounts list is not made available to the general membership, members of the Board of Directors may request a complete list of delinquent accounts through POATRI’s offices.
More info.

I guess everyone has there reasons, but if you aren't paying fees and the non-profit organization that is to receive the monies is owed $2.2 million, but is still expected to maintain roads and facilities there might be a problem. I just hope the non-fee payers aren't using the roads or facilities they refuse to support because then they will be taking advantage of me.I may take that personal.
If the numbers of non payers were in the five percent range you could conclude that they were just dead beats that didn't want to pay but the numbers show forty five percent non payers. That tells me there is something wrong with the POA. You might want to talk with the owners and get their stories before jumping to judgement.
Not passing judgement, just making an observation. If the POA goes belly up, I'll get a maintainer and take care of my own roads. I doubt that I will use the facilities much, been there and didn't see much to bring me back. I will pay my dues because that's the deal I made. This thing seems to be alot like the occupy wall street deal. Does anyone really know what the are protesting about?
I spent my Thanksgiving at a local gun show. I purchased some American Eagle silver coins and checked out prices on AR lower receivers.
I think I can use the coins to buy bread and stuff instead of hauling wheelburrows full of hundred dollar bills to the grocery store. (national debt. 15 trillion)
I think the Terlingua ranch thing needs a complete reorganization and maybe people will start paying dues.
