Early morning run to Alpine for Maria's thesis presentation....she rocked it. Will post her paper when it is officially published. Chatted up organic Mark and learned about the benefits of sweet potato greens. Picked up solar oven parts, bits for new battery cables, and a long list of odds'n'ends.
Last stop was Blue Water Natural Foods. http://www.bluewaternf.com/ They have a frequent buyer program now so I signed up since I'm shopping more there now than the grocery store. My new favorite quote from Joel Salatin:
Got home late and found OBC in charge...sort of. Just happened to have a sweet potato sprouting so I stuck it in some dirt. 96,102,68,0,C,0

John - I didn't know that the greens were edible - the plant is part of the Nightshade family :)
Are you sure? Wikipedia: "Of the approximately 50 genera and more than 1,000 species of Convolvulaceae, I. batatas is the only crop plant of major importance—some others are used locally, but many are actually poisonous."
Love that sculpture. Looking forward to reading her paper.
Yep, cancer is pretty expensive. Go green.
A fine looking animal.
Nice looking sprout, there. Looks like it'll do well in the dirt.
