This was a remote controlled monitor that was a commissioned project for a video editing facility in NYC. Just before delivering it to them, they allowed me to rent it out for this promo for TLC. The "robot tv" was built on a plywood frame and covered with sheet metal. It was a 13" color monitor with a video player, camera, video transmitter, and robotic circuitry to drive the motors. It was all powered by a 12 VCD rechargeable battery. It was driven with a standard RC remote that had a monitor build in to it to show the view from the on board camera. The range was only about 100 yards. I built this back in the early days of the internet. Figuring it all out and getting the right parts was pretty tricky back then. Looks like the prototype for a future solar oven to me.
