All good things must come to an end...

Had some errands to run in Alpine yesterday.  Over the years, I have left Chupa out during the day hundreds of times to guard the estate and he has always been there to attack unannounced visitors and greet me when I came home...but not yesterday.  No sign of what happened - no blood, no feathers, no Chupa.  I guess we'll never know - but I suspect fowl play by a predator who got lucky.  Chupa was a good egg...

I am so sorry he's gone.
We enjoyed his antics.
I hope he didn't suffer.

My condolences for your loss. Chupa was a handsome cuss and he knew it. He ruled his roost and will be forever in our memories.

I am sorry to hear that. For many of us, our pets are like our family members.

I'm so sorry! I had a very good rooster who showed up as a stray at my house. He roosted in the pine tree outside my house. He never would adjust to coop living, even when my NextDoor neighbor moved in with a henhouse full of lovely pullets.
After 2 sweet years of his company, something got him one morning. I think it was a hawk, there were rooster feathers everywhere, but no remains. I miss him to this day.
RIP CHUPA, you were magnificent. We will miss you ❤️

My daughter-in-law lost one of her ducks just outside our dogs' fence. Big pile of white feathers. Looked like snow or ice when I first spotted it but quickly realized that it couldn't be in this 80 degree Texas heat.

If there ever was a place that Chupa could come out of his shell and strut his stuff,
it was with you and Ben at the Field Lab. He had a good run and you did right for him…
a fact that can not be denied. No doubt you will miss the boy, but you two had some great times
and you have those memories. Sorry for the loss.

He nailed me on the ankle moments after I arrived (and a few times afterwards) - just like he was supposed to. He was one beautiful and cool bird. Sorry he's gone.
