Texas Country Reporter

Caught up with my special friends from Texas Country Reporter today in Alpine.  I got wind that they were doing two separate stories on a couple of my other special friends there - artist Shelley Atwood and my fresh milled flour mentor Ginger Hillery.  Made sure they all got some Field Lab Solar Oven Bread and Croissants.  92,102,60,0,B

TCR update

My friends from Texas Country Reporter came out for a return visit to shoot an update story.  A lot has changed since they were here just over 5 years ago ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSEEX6Z8vcU ).  Ben enjoyed meeting Bob Phillips. 88,98,55,0,B

real food with Dr. Deb...

Fires are still burning near Alpine and north of Ft. Davis.  The big one that started Saturday is now 40% contained but has consumed over 100,000 acres.  http://bigbendnow.com/2011/04/three-major-fires-still-going-strong-0-contained/

Special overnight guest arrived at the Field Lab today...Dr. Debbie Tolman  http://www.debtolman.com/  She came all the way over from Clifton, Texas to trade info...me/solar - her/gardening.  I think I'm getting the better end of the deal...an invaluable resource for getting my greenhouse growing.  She brought a beautiful mix of greens from her gardens for supper tonight.

About 6 of my palo verde seeds look like they are coming to life.  Looks like sanding their edges and dowsing them with boiling water did the trick.

Just got an email from by buddy Dan Stricklin from Phillips Productions.  The Texas Country Reporter episode they shot here is finally available on YouTube.  http://www.youtube.com/user/texascountryreporter#p/u/0/GSEEX6Z8vcU   72,85,46,0,B

Moday morning

Early edition: This just in - Dick and Bonnie Cain ( Benita's owners ) are on YouTube from their episode of Texas Country Reporter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDz6lgDiCt8

Field Lab news at the end of the day....

End of the day came with a rainbow from a shower that scooted east of me on its way south. Just more cutting today....going to keep chopping away until all the pieces are cut for the next 3 trusses. Got a link from an old high school friend that I really liked. http://space.1337arts.com/ A tethered balloon cam video is on the list for the Field Lab. I did a project years ago during one of our neighborhood arts festivals in Dumbo, (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass)Brooklyn. Tethered a helium balloon with a color micro video camera and transmitter, 200 ft. above the roof of my studio. Down on the street I had a coin operated kiosk where folks had to pay a quarter to see one minute of the live view from up above.....I made $5 that weekend...

rerun

Someone emailed me a week or so ago that the TCR piece was going to air again this weekend. Must have happened this morning because I got slammed with views, emails, and comments...THANKS! for taking the time view the site and blog and for the comments and emails.

A super hot day today....high in the sun of 110..... 7% humidity. Got up to 83 inside today with 40% humidity. Benita got good snacks, too much of my water, and is in the shade of my house as we speak. Did a major job cleaning my counter top today...there was just too much useless stuff that I had to look at everyday - taking up available horizontal space. Funny how you get used to the clutter then discover how good it feels to get rid of it. Set my new indoor grill top in place in the kitchen but have to get some fittings so the hose to the tank is out of the way.
