almost...

Was really hoping for a gusher yesterday afternoon.  Even had my GoPro set up down in the canyon to catch the flash.  Nice big red blob on the doppler radar was heading right for me out of the north and then it wimped out.  Storms come and go pretty quickly out here.  89,92,54,0,B

no rain

Still dry as a bone here and the chances of rain look pretty slim.  70,81,61,0,B

David, George, and the Yucca

Rain all around today but not a drop in the vortex.

GrubShack breakfast and then tour for my new friends David and George.  Nice double bloom on a yucca outside the SE corner of the greenhouse.

Prepped for the rain that didn't happen then got the deck planters loaded and seeded with Nasturtium, Italian Genovese Basil, and Borage.  67,79,65,0,W

no rain...yet

Drat!  As usual, it didn't rain much today - only .04",  Coulda made it in and out of Odessa but just had to stick around "just in case".  I don't mind being fully prepared for a storm when it doesn't happen (but it would be nice for one to really dump on TFL for a change).  Decided a good waiting for rain project would be to weld up a stand for the big fresnel lens.  Working on a plan for a variable position cooking base where I can adjust the focus level for temperature while allowing for the changing sun position.  73,91,67, .04",B

Hardly a drop fell

Well....that was some rainstorm we got last night. I didn't hear a thing yet when I got up this morning, I noticed the ground had gotten a sprinkle - checked the rain gauge and found .005" of water in it. Our 50% chance of rain today turned into a 20% chance with a nice sky to greet my first look outside just at sunrise.

With no more rain in the immediate forecast I went out and dug the hole for the foundation of tower #1 of my ranch entrance. Sweater courtesy of my old pal, CMHC. Took almost two hours to dig the hole. Diggin' really helps warm you up when its chilly outside. My materials delivery should make it out here just fine tomorrow morning. Feels good to get the next project underway.

Spent the afternoon with Chuck'n'Kathy with a drive out to her 10 acres in Big Bend Valley. We toured the land while Chuck guarded the limo. Kathy has a nice chunk of desert out there. I spotted this blond squaw rock hunting nearby.
