false flag event

Just days into the investigation of the recent shooting and thanks to the internet there is a national outcry to ban the confederate flag.  Finally, the first real false flag event.  Next up...a boycott of Gold's Gym?  84,100,68,0,B

Just wait till the main street media puts their spin on this and you will see how bias some people are. The gun culture of this country is out of control. No industrial country in the world has this type of gun problems but the United States. When will we do something about it. The answer is not more guns.

Mike Silvius said...

The real data does not support that argument.

The answer is more people armed to stop these insane people. The church was a NO GUN place. Only the law abiding citizens abide by that. The criminals could care less about gun laws. If only one person had been conceal carrying in that Church, this would have had a different ending. Time to have NO restrictions on where a gun can be carried. Concealed carrying, Law abiding citizens are not your problem. They are the solution.

Tragic and shocking for everyone. i wonder why the father of the unstable shooter thought he should give an adult a gun.

I personally don't think a majority are going to go with "everybody armed" option, but we'll see. I support the way our system was designed to work - i.e. what the majority of people and elected representatives support - knowing that we're nowhere near a consensus yet but more and more are horrified to see how these mass killings are happening.

The data from the Crime Prevention Center is misleading. It shows the US in the middle - the median but when you check the countries with higher murder rates - they're largely 3rd world and the lower murder rates are all industrialized countries:

Honduras 90.4
Mexico 21.5

U.S. 4.7

Canada 1.6
Bosnia 1.3
Poland 1.2
Ireland 1.2
Portugal 1.2
Australia 1.3
United Kingdom 1.0
France 1.0
Indonesia 0.7
Switzerland 0.6
Sweden 0.7
Hong Kong 0.4
Japan 0.3
Singapore 0.2

from - countries by intentional homicide rate - "Global Study on Homicide 2013: Trends, Contexts, Data" (PDF). http://www.unodc.org

folks think they can defend themselves against a bad guy - and they are right. But if two or more bad guys with guns come after you - then what?

Down near John's neck of the woods is a place called Langtry which is where Judge Roy Bean presided and it was famously said - "no law west of Dodge and no God west of the Pecos"

Food for thought, perhaps.

Those who would change the laws to force citizens to Disarm should review their history ! What , if , the citizens of Germany had the right to own and keep firearms such that they could at least fight back when Hitlers Brown shirts started murdering anyone who opposed them ? One well placed 9mm to the head of Mr.Hitler might have changed the course of history .
Some , crazies just 'NEED' killing as my mother use to say and , as I've grown older I appreciate the truth of her statement . In a country where the citizens can , Peacefully , remove a leader who has fallen out of favor and elect a replacement violence is not the preferred method of change . Hindsight is perfect so my assertion relative to Hitler was easy to make . Were I a non Jew , German citizen living in Germany during those times deciding to execute Hitler might have proven more difficult because , after all , he was putting the populas back to work while simultaneously murdering the Jews as well as anyone else who opposed him .
So , the average German citizen was able to rationalize the random , killing of it's citizens because they had jobs and food in their stomachs which , previously , was not possible during the time their economy was experiencing hyper inflation . The Allied powers had seen fit to remove the machine tools from Germany which they needed to reorganize their economy , create jobs and allow the German people to live a decent lifestyle . The treatment of Germany after the end of WW1 created the perfect political environment for a Hitler to rise to power and lead a desperate nation out of it's economic malise . Sorry about the long discourse but an UNarmed citizenry can't exert any force against the forces of Evil when and where they exist . , JD

By "false flag", you mean that the shooter was sent by the government, so that there would be more support for gun control? Seriously?

It's always better to have a gun and not need it than to need one and not have it.

my question also...

I do not see any problem with every qualified, sane person carrying a gun for protection. However what a lot of people do not realize that when you strap on a gun, you have to be willing to kill a fellow human with out a moments hesitation, that is a big problem because a lot of gun carrying citizens are not willing to do that, especially not quickly enough to keep themselves from being killed. Just pointing a gun at someone and asking them to stop is not good enough.

"Next up...a boycott of Gold's Gym?" That is such a ridiculous statement - and just the kind of nonsensical thinking that I can't even believe people think they are making a valid point when they say it!

Wouldn't it be nice if we could divide the country up into 50 states and let each state determain it's own policy on gun possession?
I've lived in Boston and in Texas and can see both sides of the argument. The problem is really people attempting to tell each other what is best for them with out understanding the needs of each other. Let the people vote and if you don't like the outcome then move to a state which has a policy with which you agree.

We already do. People can buy 30 guns in Virginia and haul them north to New York to sell.

Federals have been wanting to eradicate the battle flag for 150 years. This is just an excuse.

Larry G said...

well no. you can display the flag anywhere you want. But the govt should not be displaying it as they started doing in 1962 - not 150 years ago.

people are free to display - have always been so... but other people who do not
subscribe to the flag should not have to put up with the govt displaying it.

isn't that what freedom really means?

I don't care one way or the other about the Confederate flag. All the hoopla about it is just a red herring. If the mere sight of the flag on government property is enough to inspire someone to go kill people, then the flag not the problem, it's the crazy person. Even if you get rid of all of the flags there will still be crazy people doing crazy things.

Larry G said...

I don't disagree. But we have all this discussion about how Americans are being "radicalized" by reading ISIS stuff on the web and we say we need to do something about THAT kind of terrorism but when our own folks do something similar - we say, "oh well" that's just mental illness, a "crazy" person...

right?

J said...

I agree, Larry G. In fact, I would say that acts of terrorism are manifestations of a mental illness, no matter who does it. I would go even farther and say that the majority of terrorist acts are caused by mental illness that is usually fed by some misguided religious belief.

Well heckfire! WE AGREE!

often wondered why most of our mass killings are done by white guys, any idea?

J - do not consider American Thinker a very objective publication - not very impressed.

And did not agree with anything past "progessives..in the blog article - at that point - easily signified a political agenda and not really objective dialogue - he just goes off on typical lame sound-bite ideas .. puffed up talk..evading the real issues.

Does anyone REALLY think you can get "arms" equivalent to what the govt has - to have parity against a despotic govt? Heck you can't even get what a SWAT team has but at the same time the most mentally unfit can easily get their hands on enough weaponry to kill dozens of unsuspecting innocents.

I too have wondered why conservatives "get" that ISIS symbols, propaganda, etc are radicalizing people and contributing to terrorism; but they don't "get" that the Confederate flag is a symbol of racism, white supremacy etc and can also serve to radicalize people and contribute to crime and terror. And no, it's not the "mere sight" of the Confederate flag that does this; it's one factor, but an important one. Especially in the sense that many Americans, of all races, see that flag and have a common interpretation of what it stands for. Good for Governor Haley and Mitt Romney for taking leadership roles within their party on this long-festering issue. (Though I do suspect part of their motivation is to take the heat off the crowds of GOP presidential contenders - who ALL missed an opportunity to take a strong stand on this issue. Too bad for them.)

A friend of mine pointed out that we should also do away with the US flag. After all, it is the symbol of an overtly racist country from its founding up to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Ban the British flag too since we were oppressed by them for so many years.

Larry G said...

thing is , the US and Britain have been and are evolving to a better state, rejecting their past sins, whereas some of those who salute other flags are apparently still mired in hate against people.

but your friend also confuses the purpose of flying a flag for a nation anyhow. It's for the principles of that nation - not people living there, who have allegiance to another flag that represents a defunct nation based on oppression and slavery.

We have folks who say the flag means nothing to them - BUT THEY KNOW - it means something to racists and is hated by other - but they still defend it. Why?
